Just let him sleep it off, there's nothing a vet can do but call the cops on you. I wouldn't worry about it too much, I bet he feels great.:blsmoke:

He's just buzzed. If it was going to kill him it would have been last night. LOL

Might be a good idea to keep it out of his reach.:-P

I feel the same way about my dog so I can understand your concern. I'm sure he'll be fine, nothing has ever overdosed from cannabis.

yah, i don't think the dr can do much for a stoned dog honestly either, except maybe try and get him to eat some to get rid of the high a lil bit, that's probably the only thing that's going to help him much imo..
just let it sleep it off, unless you can get it to eat some i think that may help him come around a lil ........

Chocolate Toxicity in Dogs

We've all heard it, "Don't give your dog chocolate it will kill him". We'll how true is it you're probably wondering. Do I have to rush him to an emergency vet if he ate one of my M&M's?

The truth is chocolate contains theobromine that is toxic to dogs in sufficient quantities. This is a xanthine compound in the same family of caffeine, and theophylline.

Toxic Levels

The good news is that it takes, on average, a fairly large amount of theobromine 100-150 mg/kg to cause a toxic reaction. Although there are variables to consider like the individual sensitivity, animal size and chocolate concentration.

On average,
Milk chocolate contains 44 mg of theobromine per oz.
Semisweet chocolate contains 150mg/oz.
Baker's chocolate 390mg/oz.

Using a dose of 100 mg/kg as the toxic dose it comes out roughly as:
1 ounce per 1 pound of body weight for Milk chocolate
1 ounce per 3 pounds of body weight for Semisweet chocolate
1 ounce per 9 pounds of body weight for Baker's chocolate.

So, for example, 2 oz. of Baker's chocolate can cause great risk to an 15 lb. dog. Yet, 2 oz. of Milk chocolate usually will only cause digestive problems.

Clinical Signs

Xanthines affect the nervous system, cardiovascular system and peripheral nerves. It has a diuretic effect as well. Clinical signs:

Hyper excitability
Hyper irritability
Increased heart rate
Restlessness
Increased urination
Muscle tremors
Vomiting
Diarrhea

Treatment

There is no specific antidote for this poisoning. And the half life of the toxin is 17.5 hours in dogs. Induce vomiting in the first 1-2 hours if the quantity is unknown. Administering activated charcoal may inhibit absorption of the toxin. An anticonvulsant might be indicated if neurological signs are present and needs to be controlled. Oxygen therapy, intravenous medications, and fluids might be needed to protect the heart.

Milk chocolate will often cause diarrhea 12-24 hours after ingestion. This should be treated symptomatically (fluids, etc..) to prevent dehydration.

If you suspect your pet has ingested chocolate contact your Vet immediately! They can help you determine the the proper treatment for your pet.

Haha, i fed two dogs a half ounce of weed in some brownies, they slept for two days and could barely walk for a day after that, i had to carry one, big labradors! They survived and it was a lot of weed, also pretty quiet and looked like they were deep in thought for a few weeks. They refused to eat any form of canabis since then.

I used to get my medicine from a delivery service in so. cal. and they gave my wife and I 2 free medicated brownies (they always gave us a free gift, brownies, samples of other buds, cheap pipes, screens, random things). We took our eye off of them and our mastiff (he was about 130lbs at that time, he was still young) and he at both of them. That's when we found out our dog is an asshole when he's stoned lol. Took almost a week for it to wear off of him.

Im from europe and no one gets weed legally delivered to the door! Can some american explain the whole thing about being allowed weed and plants to grow for medicinal purposes please? Sounds so good i want to move there.

Your dog will be just fine. One important thing is that you need to wet a cloth and drip small amounts of water onto his lips and his tongue. This way you can be sure he is getting hydrated. If he decides to drink on his own do not let him drink too much at first as it may cause him to vomit. So just small amounts five min. apart until you are sure he is keeping it down. The most important thing is to watch for signs of DEHYDRATION : eyelids a dull white color instead of pinkish red, also the lips will turn white or grey as will the gums. The skin can seem very loose like it lost its elasticity . One way to tell is to grab the skin on the scruff of the neck [gently] and pull up streching it. Quickly open your hand letting go. If the skin does'nt snap back right away and somewhat stays the way you streched it then more than likely your animal friend is dehydrated. You may also see sheding which is common with dehydration. Just Drip small amounts 1/2 oz water on the lips and tongue every hour until he can drink on his own. Marijuana is not lethal !!! Dehydration can be.

i'm not a believer in getting pets stoned, although i understand that the ops dog got into his budder, lol, was just saying i don't think animals have a choice like people do.. to me, it kinda feels like lacing bowls with other drugs and not telling the people what's in it and let them think they are smoking just pot.. when i was like 19, these younger kids i hung out with used to do that shit all of the time and it would really piss me off, even though i did more than just smoking bud at the time, lol, i just didn't think it was very cool of them.. i would do just about any drug in my day, but i'd like it to be my choice at least, and well, that's the same way i feel about getting animals stoned.. they just don't have the choice that people do.. now, if my dog wanted to grow his own bud and roll his own j's, i'd be down with smoking out with him, why not, lol.. but until that day happens, i like to keep my bud away from any pets..
and to the op, i know how you're feeling about your dog, we sure can get attached to the fucking flea bags can't we?? we just had to put our 14 year old dog down about a month ago, and it was one of the hardest things i've ever had to do, but it was too much knowing that he was in pain and was suffering that i didn't think we had much of an option but to do the humane thing..
