Hello everyone, i'm a huge fan of riu and have sat in on quite a few grows and done quite a bit of research in the last couple years, and finally think I have what it takes to complete an amazing grow of my own. This is my first time ever posting on this forum because I was unsure of who all visited these kind of sites, but I talked to a few friends and everything is good now. Sorry for all the mess and lame questions I had in this thread first time around I removed a lot of the useless unneeded questions I had as it was late and I began rambling. This will be my second grow ever! My first grow was a 5 pack of Lowryder Dwarf Mix in a homemade 6 Site Aeroponic system with airstones, General Hydroponic Trio Nutes, and a 400W HPS in a closet. Long story short 2/5 of the Dwarfs were male, 2 of the females never grew big and so I was left with one Dwarf that grew 3 feet tall and 3 feet wide...... Yes a 4oz Monster!!! (lots of popcorn nugs)

Anyway that was in the past and now that I have spent a couple years learning and watching the pros all past mistakes will be eliminated this time around. The following is my setup for the new grow in a couple of weeks.

Starting From: Seed
- I currently have no clones available to me where I live and so I am forced to start this grow with seeds. I plan to use one of my 10 seeds as a mother to take cuttings from in the future since I only need 9 for this grow. I'm only doing one strain for right now so I can master its yields, structure, and feeding schedule.

Method: Homemade 9 or 16 Site Aeroponic System
- Im not even sure if this system will work but what I wanted to do was avoid buying an expensive aeroponic machine offline and instead make my own 9 site system. I would use an 18gal Rubbermaid Roughneck Tote with a 396GPH pump inside connecting to pvc pipe which runs out a hole in the center of the lid. Then I would get a 48"x48"x13" hydro reservoir w/lid and cut a hole in the bottom center along with 9 or 16 holes in the lid big enough for 5" net pots. The 48"x48"x13" reservoir would then be placed on top of the Rubbermaid Roughneck Tote causing the pvc pipe to run from inside the roughneck tote, through the lid, then up through the bottom of the reservoir where it would be forced through micro jets which would feed my 9 or 16 plant sites. As the water and nutrients are sprayed to the plant sites the remaining water and nutes would fall to the bottom of the reservoir and through the hole back into the roughneck tote to be recirculated and pumped again. Does this sound ok?

Strain: Barney Farms Violator Kush x10 or Serious Seeds AK-47 x10
- These will be bought from the attitude and 9 will go straight into the System and one will be used as a mother to take cuttings from in the future.

Tent 1: AgroMax 2'x4'x4' Mother Tent
- I will be using the mother tent to grow a mother plant, take cuttings from that mother plant and then root the cuttings right next to the mother pant. When the cuttings have rooted I will move them to the veg/flower tent.

Tent 2: AgroMax 4'x4'x7' Vegging/Flowering Tent
- Once the clones root they will be placed in this tent for 1 week (Hydro) or 2 weeks (Soil) of veg and then forced to flower for the remainder of their life cycle.

Light: Lumatek 1000W w/AirCooled 6" Hood

Inline: Vortex 6" Inline Fan

Filter: Carbon Filter w/6" Ducting

So I have a few questions thats been bugging me as I have searched and searched but was never given a clear answer, so here we go!

1. Which of these setups will give me the biggest fastest yield?

- 4'x4'x7' Grow Tent, 1000W, 9 Site Aeroponic System (3 rows of 3)
- 4'x4'x7' Grow Tent, 1000W, 16 Site Aeroponic System (4 rows of 4)
- 4'x4'x7' Grow Tent, 1000W, 9x 3Gal Pots FoxFarm OF (3 rows of 3)
- 4'x4'x7' Grow Tent, 1000W, 16x 3Gal Pots FoxFarm OF (4 rows of 4)

2. Does hydro yield way way more than dirt, or only by a small margin? And how many weeks of veg/flower does hydro take compared to soil?

3. Serious Seeds AK-47 - Has anyone ever tried this strain? I have heard great things about it but would rather hear it from someone who has grown and smoked it.

4. Mother Plant Life? - How long could my mother plant survive in a 3Gal Pot of FF OF soil? and if not long then what is the best size container to start a mother seed in, and how long till I would have to get rid of her and start a clone in her same pot? And will the clone that I use as the new mother last as long as starting the mother from a new seed in the same 3Gal pot?

This should just about do it for the questions and the grow setup, if there is anything I left out please do let me know as I think I have covered everything that I needed to in order for you to give me your best and most honest opinions. This grow should be setup within the next week or two so please attack me with your knowledge while I still have time to change my setup to the most effective one possible. I started off by introducing myself since i'm new to the forum, then go on by showing the setup that I THINK would be best, then I ask 4 questions at the bottom the first being a very important one that will determine whether i'm going to go hydro or soil and whether it will be a 16 or 9 plant setup. And if hydro only yields a small margin better then soil I may want to go with the soil to keep the good taste and smell, but if hydro knocks 2 weeks off my veg/flower cycles then it may be more worth doing the hydro instead since no matter what I grow it all will taste ten times better than the street reggie where I live. I also need to get opinions on the mother plant question I had since I might want to buy a 10 pack of seeds and only use one of them for a mom and start my grow from her clones that way I will have 9 seeds left over for other grows instead of wasting all 10 on one crop.

You clearly are high or misunderstood my post or maybe didn't see my questions but the reason I posted this was for opinions from fellow growers on what would work best for my setup, not so someone can come ask me what I need help with and then not answer even one of the four questions I have so if you wanna give your opinion on my 4 questions above then please feel free but don't treat me as some dumb ass who is asking stupid questions as not one question up there is stupid because it all depends on the grower different ppl are capable of different results. I wanna see what most ppls results were so I know which one I stand the best chances with. I'm in no way a grow god, the lowryder I described above was not to show off like I know it all lol that was a fluke and anyone could put one plant under a 400W in a aero setup and obtain those results.

most expensive most insane setup doesn't = biggest yield. a pound can be had from a 3x3 space, a 400w and 1 plant.

The best overall way to make use of space is probably by 1)Scrogging in my opinion, 2)hydro grows tend to make bigger buds, but not always; but soil grows do release certain terpenes that hydro grows do not(influences flavor, smell), 3)you just can't go wrong with a solid strain like AK-47, check out homebrewer's grow 4)How big are you trying to make your mother? How many clones do you plan on taking each session? I would recommend a bigger pot for a mother plant.

Looks like you have some good thoughts on growing and setup.
I hope you have read up on nutes, temp, ph/ppm etc?

If you are new to growing I would recommend staying away from aero-style mate.

I would recommend something like a 5 gal for flowering if you are looking to get a large harvest.
How many 5 gal can you fit in your tent?
On another subject I don't think 1000 W will be enough for 9 nor 16.
If you are looking to grow huge plants I would recommend going with a smaller number of plants with larger pots.

Your second question is very hard to answer mate.
Some outdoor growers yield up to 4 pounds on a single plant grown in the ground.
Some indoor growers reach 1-2 pound if they really know what they're doing.
It depends on so many variables.
Ventilation, lighting, temp, humidity, space etc.


No, I have no experience growing with the particular strain.
But I do know a lot about it and it should do fine for you, it's a very versatile strain.


That again depends on so many variables.
If you take care of your mothers you can keep them for years.
In a specific 3 gal bucket?
Anything from 4-12 months dependant on many variables.

honestly.. just try soil and move from there.. dont get to overboard man.. soil is so much more forgiving.. better for a begginer.. as of now.. i know what im doing and im damn good at it.. but sometimes shit happens.. and id say try soil for a full grow and one or two in hydro..and master it while harvesting bud for sure.. u know?

and another thing man.. i would take all ten seeds.. put them in.. grow them all out .. take a couple clones of each one.. flip to 12 12 . watch which one grows the fastest has the best smell.. and so on.. pick the best female.. and grow her clones into nice big bushes and clone the fuck out of her and get a nice harvest of the best bud u had in the 10 seeds.. out of 10 regular seeds .. say only 8 or 9 germ.. then 5 are male... ur left with 3 or 4 females.. out of those 3 or 4 .. u mite get one of the best Violator Kush plants out there. . .. i just bought 4 ten packs all diff kinds.. hoping to get some nice females.. and some killer males to breed with a couple different strains i have going.. i have about 20 strains.. i just dont have any time to post in a journal yet..

Definitely a soil dude here...but i dont have "a few 10 packs" money rite now(lol) and my mh bulb just blew...sad story w/e...but my violator was a picknmix, so maybe i just gotta slow pheno...this is my 3rd grow btw...keep growin amigo

I'd use a CAP 12 site 5 gal monster ebb and flow for biggest yield and ease. you can have the reservoir outside the tent and not have to mess around inside that much, aero will possibly clog and handwatering pots in a tent is gonna kill you
hydro will grow faster and yield more than soil
never grown ak47 but if you can get your hands on blue dream clones, thats your best bet at yielding 2p off a single 1000w......its a lofty goal for most strains, you should be thinking more like 1p per 1k, only pros pull a gram a watt with normal strains
it doesn't really matter what you grow mom in, a go 5 gal bucket with handle with loose rockwool so she's light and I can move her around easily, weighs nothing a day after watering.

1. your yield is gonna vary based on how well you utilize the grow style if your under 1000w light and how big you get the plants. all those setups have potential to give similar yields

2. again this depends on you man. i have seen both soil and hydro yield very well. hydro you might get faster veg growth just depends

3. never grown it personally i have smoked it and its a crazy strong sativa. i'll never forget smoking that the first time felt like someone punched me in the face lol

4. a 3 gallon pot is small for a momma you want to last a while. i would say atleast a 5 gallon pot and once it gets big keep an eye on roots either prune them or bigger pot to transplant

i would agree that a ebb and flow bucket system would be my grow method. i personally think cap's system is a piece of shit and greentrees is worlds more advanced.

I had the V over a year ago in soil was a awsome strain kinda tricky to root but was worth it the smoke was reat, somehow it got cloned out or not
cloned at all and lost:( I ordered up more a year later, im in hydro now so was thinking this is going to be great well the beans never poped the hole
pack was bunk fing sucks so im shy about any barny farms stuff. wish I could get it back in the loop

soil is more forgiving...great for the beg...i would run a couple under my belt first before i go aero..but thats me..there are pro n cons to every method....but u cant go wrong with the violater...huge yeilds....i personally would just run 9 violaters with that 1000w..in soil..u should be able to hit 2 pounds easy....the vk will double if not triple its size in flower..so it needs plenty of room....it a staple in my garden...some of the best smoke i ever had...strght couchlock
