I spend about 5 hours a week on lst'ing my girls. Sit on the floor, throw on some tunes and go to work :) It's enjoyable work really. Who doesn't like plumping up their plants? lol

love the training you've done on this one mate! shes looking really nice despite the little bit of bear clawing. Hows she smelling now? the lemon from the super lemon haze is one of my favourite parts of it, and that is supposed to come from the lemon skunk. great gardening man :D

I do it every other day for the beginning of my LST routine, and once they start to even out it's more like once or twice a week.
I spend about a half hour on Xena, a few minutes on Kayla, and sometimes up to an hour and a half on Fruit Hair.
My flower setup takes a lot of time because it's all CFLs, and it takes time and accuracy to use those efficiently.

Thanks, I'm keeping the structure a surprise for a couple more weeks. But I'll get some updates tonight if my camera is working.
Yea they have just a little bit, I suppose I should back off on the fertilizer a little.
Also I have them basically touching the Fluorescent Tube Lamp they are under.
It's like an 4' 80w T12 that's ages old.
It sucks dick, but it keeps 4' of small vegging plants alive.
I'm probably going to take it down after I flower Xena, since all I'll have is three small clones.

I've never really experienced my plants smelling much except up close.
I also kind of quit growing in cabs.
I know what a grow room smells like, but I never get wafts of bud.
My friends notice it though. I'm going back to the cabinet soon, whenever I save up enough money for the whole setup I have in mind.
I've never flowered one myself, but I smoke the bud this particular pheno has quite often.
I actually just smoked some.
It smells like blueberries when green, very thick smoke, and excellent taste.
I don't get much lemon off of it though.

Thanks, I'm trying to make the most out of the ladies right now.

Yea in the beginning I spent a lot more time with the lst'ing. They veg so much so fast you have to stay on top of it. Now that I'm mid flower I haven't been playing with their strings much. The lemon skunk girls are really spread out already.

Yea once you get those tops level they stop outracing eachother. Less work is involved until eventually she just GROWS how you want her to.
I leave town today for about a week.
Prepare for the worst..
I watered my Fruit Hair with lots of pure water, and covered the dirt with seran wrap to hold moisture in. Basically indoor mulching.
I know I have a flower in full sunlight with plastic wrap over the cocopeat, I've watered it three times in the last 2 or 3 months.
So hopefully it should work, unless her roots are just in a frenzy.
I figure the last day or two will be drying out encouraging new roots.
And I'll probably start the chop the day or day after I get back. She's coming down in seperate harvests.
I put the vegging ladies in little flowerpot trays, and filled them with water.
Also watered the plants.

Hope I don't get root rot, it's the only way I can water them.
I put the fan on lowest setting and moved the plants further away from it so they won't dry out as much.

Took my little clone and potted it today, and put it back into the clone chamber to keep rooting. This way I don't have to worry about a little peat puck drying out.

I always wondered why people tie their plants like that when they lst. Do u have it loose so the stem can grow? or do u change them all the time? IMO i think if anything loop it around and back down so the stem can get fatter you know. The first time i lst'ed i started to do it like that but when i looked at the rope tied around it i could't take it, it seemed like i was choking them. :D

I tie the knot around the stem fairly tight, I use different size string for different size stems.
Make sure not to choke it at all or it will die above that point.
Just a tie the knot to itself.

I tie the branches in whatever effin' direction I want.
It makes it more fun. All I'm worried about is the tops being level. Once you get that done you don't HAVE to do any work.
Though you can.

The way I do it is simple and no risk of choking the plant. Not sure what you mean by tying a knot around the branch? I cut a piece of string, sorta long and run it through a node, pull the string down even and tape it to the side of the pot. As they grow they seem to pull the string up thru the tape. After that all you do is remove the old tape, pull her back down gently and put a new piece of tape. It's worked amazing thru my first grow and I wouldn't change a thing for my next.

I left town for a week and came back to a nightmare!
My little White Widow clone, is dead.
My little Lemon Skunk clone that was rooting, is dead.
My Lemon Skunk LST clone, Kayla, ate shit and might not come back. Super droopey.
My Lemon Skunk clone, Leah, also ate shit and might not come back.
And my Fruit Hair clone for backup genetics ate shit but is definately going to come back.

On the +side I got two new clones of Lemon Skunk from my big Xena, and she's ready to flower any day.
My fruit hair is ripening up as we speak, but it certainly flowered sporadically. I don't like the way it grew much, I might not run it again.

Holy Shit, what the hell happened

Glad you got some clones and Xena is maturing but did you not plan for your week away. :wall:

Do not write them off yet, try and nurture them back. Cannabis is very hardy and can take a good amount of stress before calling it quits!:peace:

Damn, that's one bad week.

Ahh it's not so bad. The big girl is still healthy and ready to go into flower. After that I have 8 weeks to figure out plans for the next plant.
As long as I have one rooted clone, I'm fine.
And I think I'll have 2 in about 10 days, and probably ditch the ones that got stunted.
With the Fruit Hair clone, I'll just clone it in a week or two, and replace it.

The WW clone was really not at the top of my list, I don't care much for that strain. I just thought it would be cool to have the genetics of a skinny Sativa Tree pheno.

I thought I planned well. I decided not to have anybody come water, and tried to do water trays instead. They drank it all up and started to starve. The big girl lived because she had a way bigger clay pot.

I'll be fine guys. I can't wait to flower the Lemon Skunk!

Day 38 Vegetative; Xena!

I was thinking you could try using MycoStim, or some other myco product to help your plants out!

Funny that you said that, I was in the middle of reading this Root Study;
http://www.igrowhydro.com/infosheets/InfoSheet-HealthyRoots.pdf

A lot of it is them marketing their own products, but if you get by that bullshit there's a lot of information in there.
Right now I'm on budget mode. Once I start having my own flowers, I can always sell a good sack to buy extra stuff.
Believe me I'm already planning on going 100% organic in the next year or two.

Thanks for the advice though, hope to see you around.

Quick update;
My LST clone, and the next clone after that have been shipped off to a buddy's house. He's got a 400w MH light so we set him up a little 2'x4' ish area. We used white trashbags taped to cardboard walls for reflective walls. It'll be nice, I'll try to score shots every now and then.

Xena, my big Lemon Skunk girl, has finally filled her canopy up completely. The only light leak is minimal, she's ready and waiting for the switch.

I want to move one of the tops closer to the middle, and another out to the side. So the extra several days will be nice to hopefully arrange this.

I go out of town on tuesday for a week, so I might stunt her with light/water issues while I'm gone.
I'm nervous but I'll really enjoy the trip.

Wish me luck:leaf:

Day 43 Vegetative; Xena!
I took my big dome reflector and put a 15w 6500k bulb in it, and put that directly over Xena.
She's really liking the compact lumens now that I don't need to use that ugly tube lamp.

Got the fan on high and she's drinking some intense flower food right now.
Can't wait guys.

Ignore the photo names, it's day 43.

They still look good, I hope those ladies can survive what could be another harsh week. The show is going to start when the flower food is served, let us all hope that they thrive (a little time alone does everything good).

Good luck.

Well it's more like lady.
My big girl is coming down any day. And besides that I've got 2 rooting LSkunk clones, and a Fruit Hair clone.

It's only going to be 3-4 days actually, which is way better.
I've been transitioning her food over, since she only has 5 budsites, stretch isn't that much of an issue for me.
So I don't care if she has a nice looooong stretch when I switch to 12/12.

But after I cut down the bagseed I'm going to go from 15w-55w-110w over the coarse of a few days.
I don't want to go straight from 15w-110w know what I mean?

The day I switch it to 110w is the day I switch it to 12/12.
And I live in cooler parts of the globe, so since Xena is in 24/0 I can flower her on whatever flower cycle I choose!
I'm going to go from 7am-7pm.

Oh I'm so excited, my grows are getting shorter and more compact.
This time I barely have to veg because the girl is already there!

I got some pictures of her clones that I moved away.
I'll put them up tomorrow, it's 2;50am here.

Day 45 Vegetative; Xena!
No pictures, she looks the same.
I scored a new 20w 2700k bulb today. It's the one with the really thin tube.

So I gave it to my bagseed, and took away it's 40w light.
So for the last few days my bagseed will go from ~110w->~90w.

But I put Xena from 15w->40w !!!
She should really start to crank out new growth over the next several days while I wait for milky trichomes.

Day 24 Vegetative; Kayla!
I went over to see her the other day, when I was last there I LST'd her by weaving branches. She looked horrible but I knew she'd recover.
Well now she's looking great and I'm getting excited to watch her flower over there.

She will still be a LST'd hurricane.
And her sister is up to my buddy's decision.
D24 Canopy.jpgD24 Top.jpgThe Girls!.jpg
Leah is in the clay pot, she's just a natural shaped clone, nothing important yet.

These girls are destined for a 400w MH all to themselves for flower.
I'm stoked.

NEW TOYS!
Went to Home Depot, and spent about $50 total.
3x Clamp Reflector.
They're about 6" wide, and almost 8" tall with the clamp gone.
They will be the basis of my upcoming project after Xena.

And 3x 42w/2700k bulbs.
They seem to not have airholes to the ballast,
interesting.

But the bad news is I leave town for a few days in 4 hours.
So I won't get to use them until I flower Xena.

She's going to love going from about 15w,
to about 160w.
