Very nice girls there man. their daddy must be proud. Im also from NE and doing my first grow ever and its also outdoors. Its nothing special, just some bag seeds. figured ide try it out with those first so i didnt waste money on some good beans and screw up. I did notice that you have at least 1 in flower. I got 3 and from what i think they are all girls because they dont have any balls lol. My question to an obviously much more knowledgable outdoor grower from roughly the same area (you) is this... should my plants be flowering already because none of them are yet? Any ideas or tips would be most appreciated.

Look for pre flowers at the "elbow" where the leaves attach. If not you may have a Sativa dominant strain that may take a little more time to flower. Are the
leaves thin or wide? Throw some pic's up if you can get any, even like the crappy cell phone pic's I post!

P.S. this is only my 4th outdoor grow (kinda late bloomer to pot growing) so I don't have that much experience but with a bunch of us together with
our experience we know a bunch!!

Ok, sue me... I couldn't wait! It's a good thing to because the Kannibia spec. fem.
was starting to droop. All is going well, you can see the bud's starting on the crappy
phone cam.:bigjoint: The last pic. is Greenhouse "Cheese" and I am pumped how it's doing. The pic. before is my Greenhouse Super Bud.
healthy gro bro, i might have missed the post but how do you keep em un infested, what protection do you use ? ( no pun intended :) )

Well..... I have them planted in an area that has lot's of commercial buildings and roads. It's the anti "find an area in the woods" plot.
There are no animals, only problem is a small problem with slugs. I wouldn't be opposed to an insecticide if the plant's are in veg but
that's out of the question right now. You havin' problems with bugs? Let's see some of your ladies!!!

Pic's from this weekend, things progressing well. Last picture is of my G.H. Super Bud that was a Trifoliate (set's of 3 leaves instead of the normal 2) and apical dominance doesn't apply with that abnormality. Only the main stem was affected and the branches from below were outgrowing the top. I clipped the top figuring that was the direction it was going anyways but I must not have cut enough off. I guess there was a branch forming right below where I cut on one side and I must have damaged the other side branch cause the one branch that survived became the main stem. Kinda cool but forgot to take a picture. Will update when I go out next time.:weed:

Things flowering along nicely! As you can see, me and my kannibia spec. fem.
have become "pals"........:leaf:

very nice, i can see big long colas starting to form.
I saw that too and slammed the "like" button! For the cola and the B's hat!

Hands high for Southern NE boys!

Edit: Bud - That first pic wouldn't happen to be a Sativa? :p Looks like a damn octopus! Very well done both you guys.

Been a B's fan since '77 and last season was the culmination of many years of frustration. I hope my "season" ends
up as nice!! Hope all the other Southern N.E. growers are enjoying the season! Don't be afraid to post pic's, I'm not one
of those people who worry about somebody "jackin' my thread"

Don't know why but third pic. is an old one.... Things are really starting to move! Plant's
are FROSTING UP ALREADY!!!! 2 of them have lot's o' trich's on the leaves and buds.....
I may have to take some clones for next year.

The garden is booming! Things frosting up and filling in as you see from pic. #2. Just started feeding the girl's with molasses and man did it make a difference! :hump: The weather has been fantastic so far this late summer but evedently not for long. It seems to have worked out that I am container growing this year, I suppose I will
just lay the girl's down during Irene (fuckin' bitch!) and hope for the best.

So things are progressing well so I thought maybe people checkin' my thread could chime in on how they cure/store there harvest. I was planning on getting one of those food storage vacuum sealers to prevent mold. Has anyone done this before? Does the weed still continue to dry for a little bit after sealed? What is the perfect humidity/temp. for drying before the cure?

when i dry, let them hang w.a fan pointed at them on low untill the strem snaps when you bend them (bigger ones take a little longer)...then i like to jar them up to cure, this way you can open the jar and fan out the moisture that might be left over. i find it very important to open them on a regular basis at first you will notice the green smell is replaced with a beautiful aroma. once this happens you can vacume seal if you want. (i dont like how it packs the buds) IMO keeping it in airtight jars is good enough. ive never been big on the humidity and temp of a room, but a darker room w good airflow for the moisture to leave is important.

best of luck w this hurricane coming hopefully its not as bad as they say its going to be.

I'd jar it as well, i use the bigger mason jars which i find holds about 2.5 ounces. I completely trim everything( into manageable branch size as well cutting the larger ones in half) and hang them in a nice empty room so theres space for the humidity to dissipate into ( maybe crack a window a little bit as long as it doesn't drop the temp too much and the humidity isn't high. I like unfolding paper clips, and hooking them under a bud or branch to hang them. I also like spacing them a little bit so all the buds aren't jammed up and touching eachother. I don't point a fan or anything at mine cause you want a nice, slow cure so you have a real smooth smoke. 7-10 days on the lines til the stems break rather than bend, then into the jars. I like to keep my lids off for the first day, then put them on, burping them for a few minutes a few times a day for the first 2-3 days, then only burp once or twice a day til the excess moisture is gone and they're smeling more cured, then i like to keep the lids on as much as posssible(i'm usually picking at it once it hits the jars, but i try to stay out of it as much as i can). once its in the jars i like to roll the jars a bit before i burp them to re arrange the buds in there, and to make sure the buds on the bottom of the jars dont' mold up and everything gets to dry evenly. Bud just stores, cures, and looks better in jars. I really like the larger ones so i don't have to screw around with a shitload of little ones. Your trees are looking fine my friend!

Batten down the hatches boys! Hope everyone makes out okay IF this squall decides to mess with us. :) Your buds are looking great Puck!! If these cool days continue maybe we will have an early fall and your plants will mature a bit quicker!

Regarding curing. I've never done it before however some of my contacts have their methods as they usually get wet bud from folks rather than waiting for it to dry out. As Farmer and Bud said above, hanging the buds from twine until the stems "bend but don't break" is usually the most common thing I've heard. Next they go into slightly less than 1 gallon mason jars... they are under $3 a peice at the big box hobby stores or maybe a dollar more at a local craft shop. (Again same as what Farmer and Bud are saying.) Your going to have a bunch to deal with, but if it was manageable and you were really concerned with the moisture in the jard, you could buy a bunch and under-fill the jars and leave them on their side. This would give them buds more of a surface area to air out. It's like the old "trick" which melts faster a cube of ice or crushed ice.

If there is too much of a build up though - trust me you'll know. Like I said I've never cured before but I've used all sorts of mj. What comes to mind is fresh picked home grown mid-grade I've had before. I've had that stuff encase jars with water before.

One thing I wouldn't reccomend is vaccume sealing it. What will happen is you'll crush the buds and a lot of the resin will stick to the plastic. Nothing beats buds that have been babied their whole life.

Well, I have had some trouble with my bud's getting too dry too quickly. I like the idea of leaving them on their side with mason jar's. I just
don't have the space to hang them so I think I will need to find an alternate location to hang, then bring them home to jar. I know it's dangerous
to carry around (hopefully at least a lb.) of mj but it's probably my only choice.
Looks like the storm is still tracking more westerly so hopefully it won't be anything more than a tropical storm.

Thanks for the compliment! Every time I wait till the stems break before putting them in jars they just seem to smell like hay and it never recovers...
I think I will be experimenting with different amounts of time drying due the different finishing times of my girls.
