Doesnt seem like you actually got an education at all
maybe you should homeschool your kids
I would really like to conduct a vote to get you off this forum. You never have anything constructive, positive, or nice to say to anyone. Get lost man. I doubt I'm the only one who feels like this about you either.

First off she is trying to bite off Ron Paul's policies. I absolutely despise Michelle Bachmann. I would never support her.

Ron Paul is the one who said we need to get rid of the department of education, and he is 100% right.
I did a documentary and I talked to my old high school teachers and principal and we discussed this very issue.
I have a few friends who are teachers and we have also discussed this. I got the same thing from both my past teachers, and friends who are teachers.
(under the status quo) Teachers have to teach things a certain way in order to receive money from the federal government because of the way it has been structured for them to be dependent on it. kids don't learn nearly as much, instead the federal governments aims in on test scores. Along with textbooks now talking about the new world order, it is completely ridiculous.
The education system has deteriorated over the last 30 years, and will continue to if it is controlled by the federal g
overnment.
no offense meant, but can you look to more than you r teachers for info? trust me dude, most of your teachers are highly politicized to the left. so much so that they are willing to take their poitical views into their captive audience of grade school children.

face real world, not teacher world. teachers generally never had another job other than teaching.....let that sink in.

btw, the only reason teachers tend to vote democratic, regardless of political views, is b/c the republican party always goes after the department of education's budget to clean up the other budget crapshoots they form....

it's not that their political ideals are progressive, those are as mixed as the people teaching, it is that the vote affects their livelihood directly. teachers dont teach b/c the money is great, because of the awesome benefits.

The way it works in states like wisconsin is
The New govenor gives away 130 million in tax cuts to business
Then turns around and says we have a fiscal crisis and we are 130 million short
And teachers and school need to take cuts

Classic Starve the beast Republican tactics
Well he will get recalled next year
Just like 2 republicans lost in a recall this year

So if each state controls what is taught there will be 50 different histories, math cirriculums, english classes and so on and so forth. That might get fucked up.

I bet New Jersey has a different take on the issues and outcome regarding the civil war compared to say, Alabama. Odvioulsy this is a central issue within the broad issue of Federal Education.

So based on your logic, people in America learn that 1+1=2 but people in Norway learn that 1+1=11.....

First of states shouldn't have much involvement in education either. That being said, more variety on the topics means a greater likely hood on the truth being taught somewhere. Whereas one sole curriculum can completely dictate falsehood.

Im talking about bias. Use your fucking head. Its about the KIND of math and KIND of history etc etc. A vauge example would be: more southern students learn about some pissed off dude in the sky and the northerners learn the fish grew feet etc.

Wait.. your argument was that because there is no top oversight that two different things would be taught at the two different school systems, primarily on the basis that facts would be rewritten. In an independent school system you, as the parent, could choose which school curicculum you wanted your kids to learn (Creatonism vs evolution), and rightfully so.

Remember, history is always rewritten. Winston Churchill: "History is written by the victor." I prefer a system where I can hear objectively the different 'histories' from each school, and choose which one is most correct and unbiased for my children to learn from.

I don't understand how the teachers union can have any blame in our education system. Teachers are mistreated and under paid all across America.

I do, however, agree about government being the reason for failure in the education system. Regulations have stifled teacher creativity which is absolutely essential when it comes to teaching.

Visit http://www.TheCartelMovie.com for more info. A feature-length documentary about our urgent national need for school choice, "The Cartel" shows us our failing educational system like we've never seen it before.

In this hard-hitting film by reporter and news anchor Bob Bowdon, "The Cartel" exposes the corruption, waste, and intimidation in our nations public schools. Arguing that our public school system wastes billions of dollars each year, while our children learn less and less, "The Cartel" makes a compelling case for far-reaching and immediate reform centered on school choice.

College Conspiracy is the most comprehensive documentary ever produced about higher education in the U.S. The film exposes the facts and truth about America's college education system. 'College Conspiracy' was produced over a six-month period by NIA's team of expert Austrian economists with the help of thousands of NIA members who contributed their ideas and personal stories for the film. NIA believes the U.S. college education system is a scam that turns vulnerable young Americans into debt slaves for life.

NIA tracks price inflation in all U.S. industries and there is no industry that has seen more consistent price inflation this decade than college education. After the burst of the Real Estate bubble, student loans are now the easiest loan to receive in the U.S., and total student loan debts now exceed credit card debts. The government gives out easy student loans to anybody, regardless of grades, credit history, what they are majoring in, and what their job prospects are. NIA believes it is illegal for the U.S. government to be in the student loan business because the U.S. constitution doesn't authorize it. Just like how the U.S. government created Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to make housing affordable, but instead drove housing prices through the roof; the U.S. government, by trying to make college more affordable, is accomplishing the exact opposite and driving tuition prices to astronomical levels that provide a negative return on investment.

The U.S. has been experiencing 5.15% annual college tuition inflation this decade. Despite this, 70.1% of high school graduates are now enrolling into college, a new all time record. 2/3 of college students are now graduating with an average of $24,000 in debt. There is nothing special about getting a college degree if everyone else has one, and it is certainly not worth getting $24,000 into debt to camouflage yourself into the crowd. NIA's President is friends with hundreds of CEOs of mid-sized corporations who tell him that someone who skipped college is a lot more likely to stand out amongst the hundreds of applicants who apply for each job available.

The real unemployment rate in America is now 22% and 60% of college graduates who are lucky enough to find a job, are receiving low skilled jobs where a college degree isn't even required. In fact, 70% of high school graduates who didn't go to college, were able to get these very same jobs as the average college graduate. The main difference is, by the time Americans who went to college get their degree, those who went straight into the work force after high school will already have 4 to 6 years of valuable workplace experience. Instead of having $24,000 in debt, these experienced Americans will be working their way up to a higher paid position or a better job at a different company.

All across America, colleges are deceiving prospective students with misleading and often fraudulent tactics and statistics. The fact is, law schools are handing out 43,000 law degrees each year, when there are 15,000 less attorney and legal staff jobs in the U.S. than three years ago. Many law schools are advertising a 90% job placement rate within one year of graduating. However, weeks before job placement surveys are conducted, some law schools will hire unemployed graduates to work in their admissions department. They are let go as soon as these surveys are completed, but count as being part of the 90% employed.

'College Conspiracy' also exposes how three years ago when 15 new pharmacist schools were getting ready to open in the U.S., the college cartel created a pharmacist shortage hoax to scam Americans into investing hundreds of thousands of dollars to attend pharmacist school. NIA has uncovered how economists were bribed to produce phony studies that forecast the need for 150,000 new pharmacists in America by 2020. Today, NIA is hearing from many young Americans who were deceived into getting pharmacist degrees and can't find any pharmacist jobs no matter how many they apply for. These Americans are now deeply in debt and admit that they would have been better off getting minimum wage jobs stocking shelves somewhere.

I took my duaghter to the Museum. We went to the dinosaur exhibit. We were on the Balconey of this Diorama. Below us was a group of homeschooled kids. The Chaperone Pointed to the sign and said to the Children. This is an example of what you need to watch out for it is a lie.The bible tells us the earth is only 5000 years old.

Yeah I can see why some people hate the department of education. It gets in the way of the bible thumpers taking over the local school board

Back in the 70's, before there was a Federal Dept. of Education, California was a shining example of how the education system can work. Right when Carter created the department I was fortunate enough to transfer from public school to a private Catholic high school. Even then, the level of education I received at the Catholic high school was far and above much better than anything the public school system could provide. Today, it's even worse. The material I saw my kids coming home with was rather discouraging. To see where California has gone, with the assistance from the Federal Dept. of Education, has most certainly left a bad taste in my mouth.

Well i went to a catholic military high school where the education was superior. But my parents paid for it.

Plus i don't think public schools will allow benedictian monks beat the shit out of you for not having your homework done

not to mention when you get a leftist teacher who insists on brainwashing your kids that polar bears are drowning, the the NEA is a perfect organization, and heather has two mommies.

most parents have no idea what their little brains are being force fed from 8-3.

i believe any honest study will show how inferior our public schools have become.
