well.. i have 6-18 gal rubermaid tubs with 10 plants on top of each so when i change water i put an empty tote next to them put one of the tops with plant on the empty one then i got a 300 gph pump rigged to a water hose i run the hose to a bath tub and pump out the old nutes then once its empty i take the empty toe and go rinse it out then put another top with plants on that empty tote then pump the next one and rinse it once empty and so on. once they are all empty i switch my pump to the tub. i put a 5 gal bucket under the faucett in the tub,put the pump in there and fill them opposite i drained them.so the last one i emptyed i fill with clean water, once its full i put my nutes and put the top back on the tote then the next one , fill it up nutes lid NEXT fill up nutes top, NEXT lol and so on. it is a little work but i think its a pretty easy way to take care of 60 babes. i also got 2 totes same wasy flowering . i do the same . i used to do dirt but i find this much easyer . i can change out all 8 of my rez in about 2 hrs. once a week not bad , its what works for me

i dont have to clean it? just swap solution, my first grow i did dwc and just lifted the plant into other bucket, cleaned rez and swap solution the put her back, i kno thats not how im supposed to do it but thats temporaary, so my solution is water pumps??? will it make any difference if i dont wipe the res a little cuz i noticed a little build up, which brings me to what whodatnation said, as long as the conditions rite???

does the water pump go into the rez? and how does that work? never seen one in action confuzed
There is nothing that says you have to change the rez weekly.
In this past grow during the veg cycle I changed every 2 weeks.
Then during flowering I didn't change the rez at all and I went 11 weeks of 12/12.
With no buildups or algae growth.
Both rez are 5 gallon sport coolers.
I had a float valve in my rez hooked to an exterior rez that is outside of the grow cab.
I added water to the ext rez every couple days or a bag of ice works fine too.
It will melt down and keep temps down a little bit.
Don't worry about the small amount of PPM that it drops the water thru the week.
This constant adding of fresh water and good oxygen to the roots is what allowed me to go without a rez change.
I would add a small amount of nutes to the rez each week to bump it up a little.
There are numerous ways to drain and change the rez tho.
The above post is a good example.
I simply set a bucket beside the rez and siphoned it with a pump.
Like a boat fuel primer bulb to drain.
And to fill up I took a bucket of cold water and poured it in the ext rez.
Maybe the hard way but it worked fine for me. Hope this helped you out some.

Except for the nute companies lol, btw well put BB.
Im topping off my new 4x8 rdwc system with 20 gallons every 2 days so that more than equates out to changing the entire system weekly.... They are drinking more by the day too :-) heres a pic from 3 days ago.

Dont worry, theres a screen in there ;-) still qualify lol

Even though I am using soil, I was thinking of posting a pic of my scrog (first grow, still excited to whore it out). thanks to whodat, I wont be doing that though. I dont like being put to shame lol. Some really impressive stuff in here as I browsed though. Interested in possibly trying a hydro/aero setup in the future...not sure what setup though, I havent done any reading on any of them although I know the basic workings of each system.

Hi guys few quick questions about scrogging if you don't mind
1. when doing a scrog and doing it dwc, how do i remove the bucket to clean it??
2. Is there or is there already a thread a someone making a scrog screen attached to the bucket
3. how much maintenance is it??

Cheers all!:)

Most people attach their scrog to the bucket lid, when it comes time to change your sauce lift the lid with the scrog and transfer it to a new clean bucket, drain old sauce and scrub the bucket down, add new sauce and replace lid with plant and scrog...

This question was just answered at the top of the page as far as the cleaning of the rez part.
And I have seen where people attach a screen to a bucket but IMO that is if you have a small expectation for your yield.
Yes it seems easier but it has its drawbacks as well. Little screen.
I pulled 9 oz dry off of one plant. I dont see that much fitting onto a little bucket lid size screen.
Maybe 2-3 oz. Just saying.
To say that most people attach their screen to their lid is false. Some but not most.

Above I have added some pics of my Royal-Haze and she has just put out her 1st little Flower's :) :), I will leave her drinking Veg nuits until tomoz.. Then will change to her "new diet".. It's exciting times since buds are not too far away now !!! I have no doubt in my mind that the final little gap on the left of the screen will be filled completly in the next couple of days..

I am also considering leaving the UV-B on for a whole hour at the end of the 12/12 light cycle, the rest of the time the UV-B's input is staged 30 mins on 30 mins off... I have a feeling that keeping it on for an hour at the end should help just that extra bit now the Flowers are on their way !!

I hope ya like the pics... Cant wait to get some 'Bud-Porn' up etc I'am currentley on the prowl for a decent USB-Microscope so I can document the trich development etc...

I am also in limbo as to whether to experiment with UV-Blacklighting as well to gain an 'even fuller spectrum' !!! But it all depends on a bit more research and a powerful..yet cool lamp

New/extra lamps are on the horizon... inc KESSIL Red but for now I can hardly complain, my girl is becoming a lady and her flowers are beautiful , More updates coming soon...

Hope you like the progress she's making :) - STELTHY :leaf:

BLUEBERRY couldent agree more re the changing of the nutes as well as attaching the scrog to bucket. imo as long as you maintain the health of the res n such you should be able to complete grow without cleaning bucket. i know others will disagree but thats my personal oppinion.
WHODAT yea on the nute companys, i feel that as much water goes through your set up is a given that your doing a change every few days so why start over unless your doing a treatment of clearex or such for a good transition to dif nute mix. by the way im so fn envious of your grow :)
STELTHY awsome as always, looking forward to your bud pics. its about to get interesting there for sure...

Thank you sir. I'm trying to upgrade to a 600w. This is my first grow with this new setup, and I had to sex my seeds, so one of the plants was veg'd a month, the other two plants were one and two weeks old. Next grow, which should start in 2 weeks I have clones veg'd and sex'd so they will fill the whole screen. It's a three 5gallon bucket system. Cheers happy growing :leaf:

i need to get some different dna because our methods arent far off but there is a big diffence in our farm.. ur doing good keep it up and keep it green

There are some awesome grows in this thread. Props to those that do. I posted a pic of my grow a while back but no follow ups. sorry. Somebody asked about my light mover. I have a hydrofarm 4' track type with a ladder chain. The best 3w you can use. My 600w covers a 4x6 space really well. I have 1 15A circuit to use. That is my speed limit. I can run my 400W 10,000K with the 600 as long as I can keep cool with exhaust fans. I only use the 400 for the last 2 weeks.
