people have been telling me that a plant will flower when it is mature. so why 12/12? if what people have been telling me is true then wouldnt it take longer for the plant to flower?

Theoretically, if you never give a plant 12/12 it will live forever and never flower. Cannabis is dependant on the natural light cycle to tell it when to flower. We duplicate this by imitating a "fall like" light cycle.

Are you sure they weren't telling you that it will show its gender on it's own? That is true. But it only shows pre-flowers, it won't produce reproductive flowers until the light cycle tells it to.

herd of what?

yeah they were saying that if i switch to 12/12 before its mature it wont show sex till it is mature so switching before its mature wont do anything

ya dude 12/12 forces the plant to start maturing. Everyone here is going to tell you to do 18/6 or 24/0 until you think its ready to start blooming. otherwise you plant wont grow right

could be both only time will tell. and when they said the plant will sex only when its mature they might have been talking about autofloers where that is true and should keep it at 18/6 its entire life

That is true, but in your OP you said, "a plant will flower when it's mature". I think we all read that as you thought it would flower automatically, even under a long veg light cycle. (The exception being autoflowering, but I don't use em, so don't know enough about them)

But yes, if a plant is not mature, it will not flower even under 12/12.

It sounds like you are misunderstanding somthing. Keep it in 12/12 and you will have flowers soon. I promise :) its a scientific fact!

but if its under 1212 it should start to go into flowering right away unless its like a seedling cuz a plant can be mature enough after only 3 weeks
alright well it also got stunned a little bit lights fell on it and burned the bottom leaves alot first 3 nodes so that didnt help much but its on 11 nodes now and it started to flower at 6 or 7

even if you crack some seeds, and put them right under 12 / 12, they won't go right into flowering, it's not going to happen.. it still takes the plant some time even if you start from 12 / 12 for it to begin flowering..
i've never tried 12 / 12 from seed as i think it's silly, but i would think that the plant would have to reach some point of maturity before it would start to flower.. whether or not this means it getting preflowers and alternating nodes like it does when you veg a plant under normal veg light periods, i'm not so sure..
but i'm fairly sure that i've read in the past that you still have to wait for the plant to show preflowers before it wll flower at all, but like i said, these are only things i've read and nothing i've seen or tried first hand..

Just look at the 12/12 from seed growers

When they sprout they do not automatically start growing hairs , it normally takes a few weeks before they start flowering
