this whole idea came up when we picked up an aerogarden for free off kreg's list... so far so good...
everything else we either already had laying around, or somethings we bought that are uncommon in a college setting (e.x. ballast, HPS bulbs)
it's a neat little science experiment. we use the flow from the initial grow lights and mod it to trip a 300w power supply to power HPS bulbs and chug out about 24000 lumens (with 200w) instead of the aerogardens original 23w's could do. the other 100w's will power case fans powering air into the chamber, while a few spare ionic breazes we had lying around (i know, spare ionic breazes...) clear the air that exits the chamber. The chamber will be held together with pvc pipe and sealed well. as for the aerogarden itself, we filled it to the max, submerding the sponged the sprouts are in, and also adding the humidity of the aeroponic system. When it's completed (hopefully by may) it will sit in a secure place where i have a webcam wired to a wireless network reciever, where i can check the status by accessing the reciever with my laptop (im a computer science/engineering major, the reciever will be firewalled, encrypted, and P/P'd). i'm trying to keep the system, for the most part, as close to automated as possible, so this whole deal is kind of a pioneering experience for me and my colleague.
before i have any pictures or results up, i'll have data sheets uploaded containing every calculation and variable of the experiment.
makes me wonder how crazy things will be when someday college students do this legally (L.I.)
