when you cut off the bottom branches so it grows taller in length, is it called topping or pruning? would it be a good idea to top/prune and tie it down? if so, should i top/prune first, then start training it as it grows in height?

Topping is when you cut the new growth off the top so that it splits into two stems and produces more colas/tops. Prunning isnt exactly removing the branches from the bottom to make it bigger but i guess it makes more sense to call it that than topping. There should be a name for it. Peace

Its name is pruning. Anyways yeah pruning is what you do to dead dying and useless leaves (often times being covered by leaves above it) you can bend tie pull or prune them really I just want them outta there.

General rule they will grow to the light. When you top early in stem development like I do the new tops are covered by fans that move over to this new "open" space. But they block my new growth so ill clip like one leaf from each stem.

usually people cut the lower branches to make clones or because the LIGHT they are using will not reach the lower branches (and produce any significant buds)
