Adding CFL light. Good or Bad?

Is there any negative to adding additional CFL lighting to a LED setup? I have a 120w HTG (uses 120w) LED. If I add another 150w CFL is there any negative effect for my girl?

She seems to grow towards it. I'm just not sure if it will fuck up what the LED is doing.

My progress is slower than my past 400w HPS grows and I cant afford another LED. I am 4 weeks into veg and the LED is giving good penetration from the top and I ahve the CFL on the side. SInce I am LST the top seems to grow towards the CFL.

+ rep to all

actually LED lights are very effective as far as lumens per watt. and they give off low amounts of heat. they are the right color for flowering, but they are just so darned expensive.

adding cfl/screw induction bulbs is what you need for whoever has low temps with leds.. It won't hurt at all

Nothing wrong with adding CFLs, just be sure to position them so you get the most from their limited coverage. They won't add anything but watts if they are not about 2-3" from the area you want to affect.

^^^ both correct :) PS guys, the subject of the thread is not to debate LEDs, only whether CFLs are fine with them -- yes, they are :) I find them very useful for supplemental lighting if I have a plant that's on the edge of the coverage area for the veg LEDs. Keep in mind CFLs are not heat free, so if you add a bunch you may get some noticable additional heat buildup.

intresting set up,if it were me though ,i'ld set the l.e.d.'s 50% closer to the plants(minamally)they woen't burn the plants the're not hot h.i.d.'s after all.also the sun god komee,200 watt lotus puts out 15000 lumens.now thats worth a shit!

Thanks for the advice!

I am adding two more 150 w CFLs and will monitor the heat.

I also lowered the LED to 6 inches above

ya but hps causes the need for cooling fans ,air conditioning, and can not be placed close to the plant.so the 16000 lumens is a misnomer as the distance diffusion factor makes the useable light far lower than roughly equivilent cfl.the best watt to lumen is the new 50 watt single chip at 39000 lumens sun god komee.which comes in 2700 and 6500k color temperatures.its the shit .at 5ft it will grow a 5'x 5' area.$350 on e bay krazykenforyou is the seller and he delivers fast .

Dude, I was born in the 40's. I probably grew pot before your parents were born.

Secondly, there are no lights, LED, HPS, MH, 780 lumens per watts is a flat out lie.

A 600 watt HPS comes in about 150-160 lumens per watt.

Some of the high end Cree LEDs come in at around 140 lumens per watt.

780 lumens per watt is not here yet for LED's or any light, and people claiming that there is are liars.

If there were 780 lumen per watt LEDs, or any light source, wouldn't you think there'd be more people selling these magical lights?

first of all you little intellectually challenged idiot, its easy to proof.go to ebay krazyken4u is the handler.and I did make a mistake in lumens its 39500 not 39000.just because you're too stupid to simply look it up,others with a 3 digit I.Q might benefit from this sharing, its kind of the concept of this forum. you obviously are about 12 years old mentally judging from your "chronic the hemp hog " ,and your spaceship bs.there have been and still are a great many advances in l.e.d.'s .oh and I can buy and sell you're still lives with mommy in the basement ass.pop your pimples more carefully as the last one must have squirted out your frontal lobe.get a clue and do some research,if your not able ask an adult to help you!!!

There is no such thing as 780 lumens per watt.

159 is about as high as it goes, and that is from a white Cree LED driven at 3v and 350mA.
