Some are still there, some are gone. That's the thing about recession, it winnows out the weak.
Winnows out the weak eh? Yeah fuck them, society is better off with out them. Wait, who will we exploit with out them? You're weak, that is why you complain about not being able to afford to live in the US. You got tea-bagged.

Do the workers put up the capital to build the factories, to pay the wages before profits start coming in, buy the machinery and raw materials needed, contribute half of the SS for each employee, submit the taxes for each employee (all the extra bookkeeping) and offer benefits like health insurance?
If they buy stocks, yes, they put up capital to build factories - but factories don't create demand. Pay wages before profits start coming in? perhaps they do not, that is what investors (or the rich if you wish) come in, and they are paid very handsomely for that, if it is sucessful. The point remains, sure, there are contributing factors but demand is what runs this country. Reducing taxes for the rich does not create demand (well, a little bit I will grant you, but not enough to perpetuate an American Economy).

Without workers, the factories don't run, without consumers the factories don't turn a profit. Simple as that. The rich don't want us to realize that we are the ones who create the wealth, they want us to think they do. They want us to think that somehow THEY create demand for products and services and somehow if we give them larger and larger tax breaks the economy gets larger and larger - we see in princple and in practice that this is bullshit.

What's the matter, did the troll run out of cartoons? It's nature's law not man's.
You need to show me where I ever complained about moving to Mexico or stop lying.

Indeed it winnows out the weak, but it also pares down demand. High flying economy? where is that caviar? where are those cigars? recession reduces consumption to needs rather than wants. Now, suppose I am a seller of fine wines and the economy is such that only the very rich buy those wines - odds are I go out of business, no fault of my own except for my having chosen a niche that won't sustain itself in a down economy. there is indeed wealth redistribution going on, but the most of it is not government dole but a funneling of wealth to the rich at the expense of the middle class.

That is not nature's law, biologists do not use the phrase as it does not accurately convey the meaning of natural selection. The phrase was actually coined by right wing British economist Herbert Spencer. Want to debate Biology? You are getting owned in economics. Cooperation is always a beneficial trait that is preserved in many species.

You can deny complaining about not being able to afford to live in the US, I don't really care.

The phrase being "survival of the fittest". Which I assume is the meme that you think is a natural law.

I just want to line up liberals. Walk up to them and put a glock nine to their heads and kill them. Throw the bodies in a ditch and cover 'em with lime. Or burn them as a renewable energy source. I did key the every loving shit out a car with an Obama sticker today. That was fun.

Not all businesses are publicly traded businesses.

The point remains, sure, there are contributing factors but demand is what runs this country.
What you call it demand, I call the market.

Reducing taxes for the rich does not create demand (well, a little bit I will grant you, but not enough to perpetuate an American Economy).
I'm not picking winners and losers. I want lower taxes for everybody, especially when it comes to the evil income tax.

Without workers, the factories don't run, without consumers the factories don't turn a profit. Simple as that.
A little too simple, I think. GMC and Chrysler had customers, JP Morgan had customers, all those banks that got a bailout whether they wanted it or not had customers.
There is no doubt that we live in a consumer driven economy. That is why the Federal Reserve was brought into existence. To create a never ending supply of money so people will never stop consuming. A self perpetuating fallacy that never has to be reconciled.

The rich don't want us to realize that we are the ones who create the wealth, they want us to think they do. They want us to think that somehow THEY create demand for products and services and somehow if we give them larger and larger tax breaks the economy gets larger and larger - we see in princple and in practice that this is bullshit.
I will agree to disagree with you and I will defend to the death, your right to speak your mind. I think it is a symbiotic relationship between capital and labor. There is no reason that both cannot prosper in the right atmosphere. I believe that your mistrust is aimed at the wrong target.
Also, I would like to thank you for your thoughtful, intelligent responses and your respectful manner. It is a pleasure discussing politics with an adult.

I totally disagree.

I agree about the wealth redistribution. From my perspective, government interference in the economy is to blame for most, if not all of the financial mess we find ourselves in.

Was the economy doing well under President Clinton?

Tax income from the upper 1% is a very small portion of the governments income, what is the point of having higher taxes on the rich besides spite?
