Not my fault you can't live a simple life. Shit i wash my clothes in a five gallon bucket and a plunger. I'm running this laptop off a deep cycle battery hooked to a solar panel.

When i get sick i deal with it. No ER for me. No cavities so no need for dentist. Shampoo and toothpaste i get at the dollar store when i run out.

Gas i make my own bio-diesel and sell it. Don't have a diesel truck otherwise i'd run it with the bio-diesel. I ride my bike or walk to most places. Only time i use the truck is to pick stuff up to sell.

The only thing i even remotely have a worry about is paying the mortgage. But between scavenging and selling organic eggs and meat from the chickens I've been doing just fine there.

not about proof, I am just curious ...I would also like to live off the grid one day..heard solar is weak huge start up cost ..and I am currently growing my first ever veg garden with tomatoes and corn and like to see others.

I work a job. And actually you can trade those things. It's called the barter system.

I work part time. I get the free stuff off craigslist and resell it. I pick up scrap and sell it. I go to tag sales and sell the stuff on ebay.

The thing that's expensive about solar is the batteries and panels. Panels you can save some money buying the cells on ebay and soldering them yourself. Batteries you just gotta buy unless you're ok with going to your nearest country club and stealing the golf cart batteries lol.

For growing food i do aquaponics. I started with this setup a couple years ago in the apartment i was in: http://gardenpool.org/aquaponics/shelfponics . Don't buy the kit just recreate it. When i got a house I just made it a lot bigger. This video is very good: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYFM7J_TpTU . I'm in a colder environment so i can't do tilapia but i do trout. Basically my meals are just salads and rice and some fish. Once i week i treat myself to some beef.

When i say i produce 60% of my electrical you gotta realize i don't have a washer or dryer. My fridge is on a timer so it only turns on for 30 minutes every 3 hours. Everyday i bring solar lanterns outside to charge and I use them for most of my lighting at night. Got some xmas lights strung up that help too.

It's a very humble existence.

Because we have a system which would totally collapse if we didn't have poor people. If you look at how a fiat currency system works you will understand that as time goes on we will need more and more poor people to keep labor costs down and prop up our currency.

what is considered "poor" ? ....I made 90 -105k a year for over a decade..always had a good construction job since I was 18...started as an apprentice and after 5 years of working and trade school, I became a journeyman ...I was living very comfy for a long time until I injured my back...I have never sued anyone ..I did not get an attorney ..I listened to my doctors who said have this spinal fusion and you will be back to work in 18-22 months...That was 2 years ago..my back is still fucked up. Since I have not worked since the surgery I lost my insurance...I manage to get by but kinda consider myself poor currently...have 2 k in the bank and own a car that is worth maybe 4 grand...lost my home in foreclosure last year and now rent a home...Am i lazy? dumb? you tell me
