Diesel Ryder Ready (I think)

A friend of mine gave me a Diesel Ryder AF seed so I germinated it 55 days ago and its been growing since.

First 20 days it was just growing under a 60 Watt spotlight, nothing serious at all. But after 20 days when things started to happen I decided to get more serious. Now Ive got a Secret Jardin running and a 200w CFL.

Should I harvest this now? It looks bad I know, but age wise it has 5 to 10 days left but the hairs are going really red which I read was bad so I figured it was about time.

What do you pros say?

The top of the plant looks ready I'd say, but the bottom flowers haven't gotten so much light as i think it should so it hasn't developed properly i believe, but the time is running out since its an Auto Flower strain and i believe it dies in 10-15 days maybe?

Here are some pictures I just snapped:

So what do you say? should I harvest or wait a couple of more days? Any idea what the weight might be? I dont have a scale but my guess was 5-10g :(

Also, how does my smaller new borns do? :P

Looking pretty good for the light etc. It's definitely not done yet, close though, give it that 7-10 days and then post some new pics.

DO NOT HARVEST IT YET DOOD!

That lil Auto has at least another week of fattening up to do and possibly more.. you cannot always go by what it says on the packet, i mean you need to read your plants.. ;)

If you look at your little auto it still has many many white pistils popping out and the Calyx are still pretty small, they will fatten out if you feed them for another week. It is Not a bad thing to have red/orange/Rusty coloured pistills on your plants, that is just the older calyx pistils maturing.. however do not be confused with that bieng your plant Finishing.. If you keep her going for at least another week you should then see fatter buds and also the pistils when a plant is fully matured and ready to harvest are prolly 85% approx Red/Amber/Orange.

The best way to tell is if you have a microscope you can look at the THC development on the plant and then decide if you have flowered her long enough. The Thrichromes start off clear and as they develop they turn milky/cloudy white and then turn amber.. best/full maturity is reached when 80% of the trichromes have turned amber.

Edit.. P.S. seedlings are looking just fine.. ;)

Make sure Not to confuse Pistils with trichromes.

i love growing auto strains.

Hope she fattens up nicely for you and please if you keep her going for a while more then post end pics to compare and you will see a week or so can make a Big difference to your Yield.. which in my opinion will prolly be 7 - 10 grammes.

Happy growing man. :weed:

Wait about a week to chop. these 60 day autos take a week or two longer than advertised in my experience. Looks like only about a quarter.

the hairs are going really red which I read was bad so I figured it was about time.
lol it's not bad. they're supposed to do that. definitely a week, even more left. you'll know when it's ready - the buds will be fat and juicy with all the red hairs and it will have the 'ready' look

Although, visual inspection can provide some reference as to whether a plant is "finished" or not, it's really hard to say without taking a close-up look at the trichromes. A strain's effect has everything to do with it's strain profile (the ratio of THC, CBD, CBN, etc). These ratios change as your plants "matures and finishes". Knowing and understanding the desired effect, and strain you are using will give you the most accurate determination of flowers that are ready to be harvested. Some people can learn by trial and error of harvesting a strain at different times and experiencing the different effects, however that is still only so accurate. I prefer to get up close and personal with the trichromes using the AmScope2000x.

We've had plants that look done with plenty of red hairs, and no amber trichromes and have seen everything in between. We've had plants with all red hairs in week 7, only in week 8 to burst out with twice as many new white hairs. IMO, we need to look at the trichrome heads to know when it's done if you are looking for more accurate strain profiling.

Returning with a update, used a magnifying glass to get a better view of the trichomes. Not sure what to look for but maybe you can help me out :)

Hi again.. here is a pic of some mature Trichromes so you can get an idea what you are looking for..
(im guessing the Trichromes on your little auto are crystal clear as we speak, they will change from clear to Milky and then start turning amber at Full Maturity). Hope this helps.

Diesel Ryder Day 52 (001).jpg

Returning with yet another update. Smell from tent increased a lot durring the night. When I opened to water the lovely smell easily filled my appartment. Not sure if this is a sign? Also have 4 smaller plants in the tent that are really starting to grow so it might just be them.

Day 59: AND PROBLEM DAY!!!!

Its day 59 and I have a problem. On friday (day 61), I will be going on holidays and won't be able to harvest the plant until Saturday a week later. This will make it Day 69. Should I leave it in for another
ten days? Or should I take it down tomorrow, Day 60?

Look at the bottom of the plant, (Pic 6), it looks terrible. The light won't reach down there and nothing seems to happen with it. Should I harvest half of the plant before I leave and the other half when I get back ten days later? :o

Really really appreciate a reply asap :)

Patience bro patience, I can see you're very eager to harvest. Let it go another week. You still have plenty of white hairs. Light not penetrating to the bottom is what creates "popcorn" nugs. They will still finish just a bit later than the rest of the rest and will be smaller. What are you going to do able watering the plant though? Are you using a drip system? 60 days is very very fast for a harvest. I doubt the majority of your trichomes turned cloudy/amber in just a few days. Remember you want to get high, not just taste weed.

Wicked.. thats that sorted, let yer mate water it for the 10 days you are gone and as long as he does not kill it (lol just kidding is hard to kill in last days anyway lol) when you get back it should be Ripe and the Trichromes will be mature.. some of those plants Stink more than others so smell is NO indicator..
take a pic before you go and when you get back and i bet you see a big difference, the buds should be fattening out in the last couple of weeks.. are ypou giving them any Nutes for Bloom,, i.e. PK?
And just to reassure you i have plants that i thought would finish last week but they are still not done.. lol.. the Pistils are mostly Amber now and mature but seems the Sweet melon strain likes to pump out the Trichromes fast in the last 3 or so weeks..
Every couple days i am looking at the trichromes through my microscope just so i can be sure what im dealing with..

I look forward to seeing your end results dood..

have a good vacation and Holla when you get back..

Peace :joint:
