hey guys. i have a grow of a suposed greenhouse big bang and a for sure greenhouse lemon skunk. i bought the seeds from single seed center and i bought singles to try greenhouse out. i have them into the fourth week of flowering going into the 5th on tuesday. i have a serious concern though that i have been wondering about for a little while.
greenhouse states that their lemon skunk will stretch in flower due to the sativa citral genetics. during vegging (which was 45 days) it stayed compact with very short internodes with a very uniform canopy (i topped it).
on the other hand i got a "big bang" which is suposed to be an indica without any sativa traits. its skunk, northern lights, and el nino (el nino is part of the white family, with white widow a relative). from the beginning the big bang was a very fast grower with very much vigor. it has leaves inbetween indica and sativa width and length. they have 9 fingers too. but it had between 3-7 inch internodes and grew very tall and very sativa like. more so than the lemon skunk which has a sativa like phenotype. it grows almost like its a sativa dominant strain. i thought that maybe when i ordered the singles they either mistakenly gave me something different or ran out of big bang. im on the fence because big bang is a "cheap" seed and big bang went into flowering muchh faster than the lemon skunk and they are both suposed to have the same flower period (8-9 weeks). the big bang showed female preflowers after 3-4 days of 12/12 which beats anything else i have ever grown. the big bang also has been having a calcium/nitrogen defiency like most sativas, yet the lemon skunk has not and they both have been getting intervals of botanicare bloom (hydro), botanicare sweet, botanicare liquid karma, then to botanicare hydroplex (0-10-6), finally ending with grotek monster bloom (0-50-30).
i have some pictures so check them out. maybe im just nuts but i vegged both under 262 watts 6500K that were 5-6 inches from both plants. the lemon skunk grew indica uniformity, while big bang didnt. then i started flowering with a 400 watt hps all in one system that has very little heat output so i can put it 12-18 inches from the plant. and if youre wondering, no i havent had any heat problems.
maybe its a different pheno? anyone with experience growing this strain or can maybe help me, please do. all constructive suggestions are very much appreciated. lastly... this isnt my first rodeo, but i will admit this is one of my best grows in aspect to plants, equiptment, VERY minimal issues (really none at all), perfect plant size (id rather few large plants than many small, but im doing a bunch of small now in DWC to see if i get any better results), and all my lighting is great.
this is the "big bang"
(edit)-the leaves look like theyre curling, but youll se in the series of pictures, its just the fan blowing on them. the yellowing is the nitrogen/calcium defiency which has stopped since i added botanicare calmag (2-0-0)
this is a 3ft tall measuring tape. in a 4 gallon pot.
now heres the lemon skunk... also 3 ft but in a 7 gallon pot
heres a clone i took from big bang. it was barely 4-5 inches when i took it and i put it right into flower in a 4 gallon DWC after it formed small rootlets. the tape measure is 20 inches and its been 4 weeks. it just started going into full flower.
heres 4 big bang from seedling straight into flowering. theres also 1 the church and one LSD. these big bang have NO internode spacing under the same light i used to the LS and first BB. done in a 1.5gallon DWC. thats my fingertip in the picture.
finally heres a picture of one of the MANY colas on the "big bang"
