Hey Markj - that's how it's suppose to look at first - kinda funky, but give it a few more days and BAMM!!! Re-read the tutorial if you are feeling antsy... But dude there is no way to mess this up - cause if you go too far, well you have just topped your plant and that's all good too!

:peace:

Hey White Widow Woman, it's been three days since I fimmed and still I can't see anything popping up from the cut point. I can't post any photos at the moment because I gave the camera to my brother and my phone pics suck, but I'll definitely post some new ones tomorrow. You know it's my first grow, so I think that I'm overreacting often. I'm waiting for that BAMM!!!
About the new box I'm making, I'm not finished yet, because I was pretty busy the last 3-4 days but hopefully it'll be done by tomorrow. I'll post some pics of that as well.
Thanks a lot White Widow Woman for stopping by!!!!! Sometimes I really need your opinion because if it weren't for you people here, I think that my plant could have been dead or overstretched or or or... Please check again in the next couple of days, because I have some questions, but I need to finish the box, put the plant in it and post some pics so you'll know what I'm talking about!

PS - Finally decided to take some pics with the phone. The quality isn't good... anyway here's my first plant 5 weeks old! Tomorrow some better ones, including close ones to the fimmed top!

thanx mmclean, I haven't fed since the nute problem I had. I gave only water since. The yellow you see on the top leaves is from the shitty camera of my phone. They're fine, just checked again...lol Next time I'll feed for sure I'll be really really careful and just give 1/4 strength.
By the way, I've been checking your fimmed plant and it's going great!!! I'm still waiting for mine....

Finally an update!!!
I couldn't find any camera but I did find a better phone than mine. So, here are some new pics. The plant's now is in its new box and is about 28 inches tall and it's still vegging. I'm thinking of putting it into 12/12 soon. I don't know how much bigger it will get. In the box it's in it can get up until 52 inches or so. So, I did a little training to it. I've tied it from two points, one in the lower part to keep the stem straight and one in the upper part to bend the stem. Please take a look and tell me what you think. I could use any suggestion or advice for doing it better.
The lights were lowered after taking the pics. Right now there are 3 cfls. Two on top (one 275W and one 360W), and one on the side (275W).

After the nute problem I had about two weeks ago, I gave only water until today. Today I fed with 1/3 strength. I hope it goes well this time. You can see the damaged leaves in the lower part of the plant. Now it looks like nitrogen deficiency and that's why I fed. I hope it doesn't expand to the other leaves.

Hope you're all doing good...
Cheers...

24hrs after the first training and she's looking great!!! Everything's pointing up again. Lower branches are getting more light. I can't stop looking at her. Today I tied the stem from another point too and wilted the upper part a bit more. Here are some pics from today, a day after tying down.

There's also a pic of what I'm using to tie it. Do you think it's ok or should I use something like a rope?? is there a chance that the wire and plastic harming the stem or branches?

Cheeers...

thanx man. it's almost 6 weeks old and still in veg. I was lucky and found the cfls at my local electric-lamp store. I didn't expect to, but went in just to check and they had those cfls and I really like them so far.
I know what you mean and how you feel about those lower leaves. But the good thing is that when we get to flower, then even if they were healthy they wouldn't get enough light so you'd probably remove them yourself.
My plan is exactly like yours. I'm waiting until there are some nice branches to be cloned and a week after taking the clones I'm gonna throw her into 12/12. For clones I'm gonna cut lower branches which wouldn't get much light during flowering.

I'll be checking to see your pics and how your plants are doing!!

Now, I'm getting ready to leave for a couple of days, and it's the first time that I'll leave her alone. Normally I put the cfls less than an inch away but I'm here and checking if the leaves are touching the lights. Now I have to put the lights higher till I come back, cause I don't wanna return and find the upper part burned!

That's all for now.
See ya all in a couple of days with more pics (better quality this time...lol)

thanx jlittle! I've seen some great outdoor monsters here in the forum, I'm sure it takes longer when you grow outdoors, so give her care and time and she's gonna turn out beautiful...lol

Here are some new pics. I think that the growth has stopped the last couple of days and I think it's because of phosphorus deficiency, so later I'm buying Bio-Bloom and hope for the best.
I do have some questions, because sometimes I really don't know what to expect.

Pic 1: I fimmed the top 17 days ago. Is this how it should look by now? I mean that the point where I made the cut remained the same, and the two branches you see at the pic, aren't they the side-branches that would be there even if I hadn't fimmed?

Pic 2: The glass jar you see beside the pot is a 0.5L jar. I've put it there so you can have a scale and understand the size of the pot. Is it normal that when I water with just 0.5L of water, to see water running from the bottom of the pot? Or could it be that there's something wrong with the soil and the water isn't absorbed properly but instead it goes straight to the bottom of the pot?

Pic 3: My DYI grow box. At the exhaust I've put activated carbon. I'm waiting until I switch to flower to see if it really works.

Pics 4,5,6: My more or less damaged lower leaves. I hope that that after Bio-Bloom I'll have less of those!!!

Pics 7,8,9: A full view!!!! I'm thinking of taking a couple of clones from the lower part tomorrow and then put it to flower. After I take the clones, should I leave it at 18/6 for some days to let the plant recover from cutting the branches or is it ok if I switch to 12/12?

That's all for now guys and girls!!!!!! Please let me know what you think!!!!

Cheers...
