Blackstar 500 grow.....New to LEDs

I just recieved my blackstar 500...let me know what you think of my set up. I just put my clones of ch9 super haze(which i got for free) into 12/12 today. Do you think i'll have enough light its pretty bright, and it says it can do a 3X4 area, but we all know manufacturers have the tendancy to exaggerate.

I have a 2.5X4 area, and theres ten clones in the pics, 3 of which havent breached the screen yet tips and wisdom from other LED growers would be appreciated.....thanks in advance

I'll be updating this every week with pics..ill have a better camera aswell, i just cant seem to find it at the moment. Those dreadful pics are from my laptops webcam

I like your setup, nice and clean. Oh, and I'm watching from the front row man!!!!

I grow with UFOs, back when I started I was told that multiple smaller lights is better than one big one. Hence the UFO.

I hope your clones aren't infested. That happend to another grower on here.
Don't let them fool you it does actually do a 3x4.. But what they don't tell is what there growing, sure, lettuce in a 3x4 but defiantly not for mmj. Why are you 12/12 from clone with a decent amount of space? I hope you can get more after harvest, I would have kept a mom just in case.

Hell yeah, this grows gonna rock out with it's cock out man

The blackstar 500 does best at between 14" - 18" from canopy, for a 2'x3' area. You will notice smaller buds outside this area, but does a decent job in 3x4. :mrgreen:

No there not infested i did have a problem before, but i got rid of them all (fungus gnats). I have actually 12 mothers in smaller pots at the moment, what im going to do is Im going to pick two plants each time like for example im going to pick purple bud and hollands hope for the winter since ill get those nice colors. Put them into a little bit of a bigger pot move them to my bigger veg area and clone six of each and then just discard the original seed plant. Then after i discard those two ill just germinate two more seeds to put in there place. I will do one clone of questionable plants that dont have preflowers to test sex probably during this grow. What i like about that method is the plants will be very mature.



These are my mothers: 2 Leda uno(one female other idk yet), one feminized durban poison, one female purple bud, one feminized hollands hope, one redwood kush (a clone of my first female plant ever that i will keep forever), one feminized ch9 aroma, 2 strains from kiwi seeds(don't know sex yet, and ill find out what strain as there flowering since i know the seed bank). Then i got some ch9 FG-13, some sour d, lemon cheese, and special kush from royal seeds. A lot of these were freebies and i have tons of more seeds too.

When i put them in the bigger pots I'm just going to LST thats why i let them grow so tall. I think it'll be less of a headache doing it that way

Yeah im probably going to throw in just a couple of cfls on the sides. I have those huge 68 watt ones that throw off like 4000 lumens:idea:
that should probably make up for it

I'm running 4 Blackstar 240's in a 4x4 tent. I have 4 white widow, 1 northern lights and 5 Aurora indicas. The 4 light spread is working very well for me. I have found that with Led lights, I needed to use more CalMag than I did using CFL's. They are in week 5 of flower.

I was thinking about getting another one a little down the road, maybe if i see another price drop. For flowering I just use blackstrap molasses as my carb and that according to the label has 20% calcium needed per day per serving. My regular jacks fertilizer has some magnesium in it so i think for the most part ill be alright. I'll probably just up the fertilizer a little bit, like a quarter teaspoon from what i normally do:weed:

Looks great mann. Im new to LEDs, can you tell me how much you typically yield with that set up?

I had the same Q for Jesse. How many grams per watt do you pull from 4 - 250's. I've seen about 1/3 to under 1/2 gram per watt with (1) 500 BS. Dirt scroggin, hydro sog all with short or no veg. period though. :peace:

This is my second grow with LED,My first led grow was with 2 blk star 240's, 3 white widow veg'd for 45 days and the yeid was 4.25 oz.

The reason I ask is because Im about to upgrade to either a 1000w cool hood system or an LED set up. I could get everything I need for the 1000w set up for $1100 and could yield 300-400 on my worst grows. Im just curious if LEDs can compete with this yield within a fair price range
