So i'm feeding today, and something occurred to me... I don't know how crazy this is, but it seems kinda interesting... see, I've got this little watering pot and I fill it cup by cup from the bucket because I don't have anything set up yet. (Got a spigot and tube, going to make a gravity fed bucket drain shortly)

Sooo... i noticed today when I was doin it that I end up with some of the solution on the TOP of the watering can, which then comes in contact with a lot of the lower leaves while I'm trying to get under to get the water to the soil.

Suddenly wondering if the most obvious solution all along was right in front of me... I wonder if I am nutrient-burning the leaves that the top of the can comes in contact with, leaving some nutrients on the leaves in the process.

Is that too over-careful my mind is being on that one?

--

Also... pH tested my water, 6.8-9. Feeding solution of 5.5-6 now, and the run off is coming out around 6.8 to 7.0. Soooo... I suspect pH is high, and this will help too, now that I'm putting in lower pH feed.

Crossing fingers, making progress I think.

Also:

6/7 confirmed females now. But the Herijuana isn't showing sex yet. That's the shorty that was lagging behind, so that makes sense. Also a lot of purple stem on the poor Herijuana... it is responding more drastically to the pH swing and/or deficiency. I am hoping today's feeding turns her around.

why dont you just place it a few ft above teh plants pots and allow gravity to push teh water when u remove cork or uncrimp hose

sudden brain-storm just made me realize that my plants bases are so low to the ground I could use gravity to feed the line if I can just make a spigot at the bottom of the bucket. That should be pretty easy to do. Then I'd just need a little table to keep the bucket on.

ok glad to see you got to this just was reading and saw and said teh same thing

Yaaay, productive day. I finally said fuck it and adjusted my light schedule a few hours later so that I can get work done, LOL.

Duct muffler is installed... I'm still not QUITE satisfied. It's a lot better than it was when I first started out, but I am definitely building an enclosure for the fan next. I'm going to jerry rig something... everyone builds from like, fiber board or something, but I don't have the space for it where my fan is hanging unless I build it right into the ceiling, which I can't really do because it's a rental. So I'm going to be epoxying two 5 gal buckets together to make my enclosure. :) Haha. I just hope it holds... I will be using "plastic fusing" epoxy, so hopefully it will hold up to it's name, hahaha.

I might not get to THAT project until after this grow, though. That's a bit much for right now, as I have to take apart the whole closet every time I do something with the ventilation to avoid smashing any lights with heavy equipment. :huff huff:

I barely had time to do the muffler... considered going for the gold and doing it all today, but I made the right choice, because I barely finihsed cleaning up in time for lights off!

Oh, and the Herijuana is female! Wewt! I get to try it after all! I will probably clone it even though it's not the healthiest, because herijuana has such a reputation for it's couchlock.

I also got one of the two scrog nets in place... since I've got 7 plants total , one of the two rollies has to be a little crowded unfortunately. I could have left the relatively smaller herijuana on one of the foursomes but I decided to go the other way with it, and got the herijuana straddled widely in the middle slot of the 3-piece set... hoping to let some light into the middle and get her to widen up and fill out the space. We'll see what happens with that. I might end up regretting it... but not much I'll be able to do now that those scrogs are VERY in place. (staple gun, heh)

The other one I did not have time to get to, so right now one side is netted and one side is still freestanding. I will scrog the crap out of the other four tomorrow. Like I said, they might be a bit crowded... but my plan is to bring them right out past the ends of the T5's and use CFLs to supplement the ends. (I already put the two-piece with the big CFLs back in the back, and will add more to the front as I deem necessary.)

Pics in a few.

Holy fuck I woke up to a blizzard this morning! Anyone else get hit with a storm? Fuck this shit its to god damn cold I had to kick all 5 of my heaters on to keep all my rooms stable :(

This winter is going to cost me an arm and an leg to run. Oh well it will be worth it in the long run.

Ahahaha, indecision strikes again! I am not satisfied with my scrog net. Off it comes. I will do tie-downs and stakes when support is needed I guess. Though, honestly, I might just get some chicken wire and make makeshift cages for the fronts of the two side lights, that way I don't have to worry about staking and can just let buds lean. Then again, not sure how well that would work as the metal might conduct a good bit of heat and end up damaging plants anyway. Hmmm. Maybe stakes it is.

Hmmm :P Damn you. heh.

I don't know man, they're such a pain in the ass. Maybe I'll put it back on when I have time to do both at once... in the mean time they can co-exist better under the flat light without the scrog, since that lets them get closer to the same height.

Honestly, the scrog is mainly for support, because I was worried about buds falling all over.

alright alright, I'll reconsider... lol. But don't have time to do them up today, so maybe if I have time tomorrow I'll do both and get them squared away.

I dunno, I just feel like there isn't enough room on the 4-plant to do much with the scrog... there's no where to spread to really, they're already pretty tight. If I could just get ONE plant off that rolly, there'd be a lot of room. But I don't know what I'd do with the 7th plant if I did 3 and 3 on the rollies as is.

They're all kinda tall on the 4-piece too, because I wanted to give room to the herijuana to branch out to hopefully get more yield, but it's also the shortest plant, so I ended up sacrificing a lot of height there. And I'm just not sure what I'd do with the extra mass on the second 4-piece rolly.

I guess I could try to spread the 4 plants out towards the middle space in between the rollies, instead of training them towards each other.

I'm open to suggestions... it would not be too hard to put the screen back on as is, I just have to do it asap, so I'd be doing them both tomorrow morning, if I can figure the best way to train them out.

Almost wish I had ended up with six plants instead of 7, hahahah. #firstworldproblems

Okay, here's what I'm thinking: Instead of scrogging the Herijuana wide and only having 3 plants on there, I could let it keep it's height and have a smaller footprint, that will let me get 4 plants on that rolly. Then the taller plants can be trained down more, as they'll be spread 3-deep instead of 4-deep.

Result is less herijuana spread, but probably better results for the taer plants, and a more even canopy overall. Yields from the herijuana MIGHT be reduced, but honestly I'm not even sure it will, because that is one slim plant, there really isn't a ton of extra foliage that I'm letting light into in the middle anyway.

it sounds packed.. well if the scrog would be more hassle than its worth dont worry about, you are right its mostly for support but that support has allot to do with allowing energy to be used other places. oh well dont worry about it i see what you mean, with the other row in the way it wont really work out, i was gonna scrog one of my tents but once i fucking added the flood table and shit, stuff almost at the ceiling already.

Hahaha.. well, I am still thinking about it, I think there is a way to make it work.

It's no big deal, I can get the screen back on pretty easily. And I like the idea of reducing the footprint for the herijuana and getting more width out of the tall girls.

It definitely IS packed. hahaha. But I don't want to sacrifice anything if I don't have to...

you should see the last pics i threw up in my journal(link in sig) talking about packed.. good thing in the HPS tent i got them all in at different times a few will be coming out as the other get bigger.

I really wish I'd gotten the scrogs on earlier when I should have, before the stretch. That would have saved a lot of headaches, because now the scrog screens are about half a foot too short so I'm struggling to get all the shoots through in the right places as I put the screens on... boof... haha.

Yep that looks pretty packed, LOL.

Here's my room right now:

I will brainstorm tonight and take action tomorrow, one way or another.

I'm thinking maybe take the herijuana OFF a rolly all together, then scrogging out 3 on each, with the herijuana plant scrogged separately in the back under the last half-foot of T5's and the CFL's behind her (will rig a reflector if I do that, and add more splitters so they tilt out over the plant more)

Either that or I will just reduce the herijuana footprint and crowd her back up a little. I think I'll PROBABLY do the first option, as it would allow me to maximize footprint for all plants. I just might need to do a little more supplemental in the back for the herijuana.

Third option is, of course, just leave as is.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your perspectives. I will hold off 'til I see signs of need. :0]

I did not realize there was a benefit to aerating water without nutes in it... can someone explain why that's beneficial? Isn't oxygenation established while it's flowing out of the faucet into the container?? Or does water actually oxygenate significantly more heavily if left bubblin?
adds O2 and also removes chlorine and ammonia from the water they kill the good Bactria in the soil
they say pot has 400 chemicals in it a cup of dirt has more then 6 million organisms in it
