Where has all the money gone...

The trouble begins when Social Security and Medicare get tossed in with "unfunded' programs like welfare. While the term "entitlement program" may be argued to be correct, not all will accept the term. A big reason is that "entitlement program" has become a catchphrase, a "snarl word" that the right uses the same way the left uses "assault weapon". Both are unfair and loaded (albeit differently for each term).

Also, heritage.org? The neocon Ground Zero?? cn

I take truth wherever I find it, CN.

Having paid about $400K into social security over the years, I also get a bit annoyed at the term, "entitlement". I want my $400K back, with interest!

The simple fact is, the government embezzled all of the SS funds. The government was the dishonest middleman in the whole scheme. There is no "trust fund" with trillions of accumulated contributions. When income falls below outgo something is going to give.

I agree with you that stealing from the funds was a frightful thing to do. As near as I can tell, it began in 1983, squarely during the tenure of the neocons' demigod Reagan. I detect irony. cn

lol, heritage foundation.

you'll probably be calling the article socialist in another few years if history is any precedent, such as the individual mandate or cap and trade.

When you actually contribute something to the pot, then your input will be a little more valuable. Leach.

awwww, poor little guy sounds all butthurt.

i contribute every single year, rat.
Saying you "contribute" is a way of denying that "they" would steal it from you if you didn't (ahem) "contribute"...but do carry on. I contribute to my local food pantry, which means I give of my own accord, absent duress or threats of extortion. When you "contribute" you are giving the bully your milk money so he won't give you a wedgie.

If you worked 58.6 years and made 113600 dollars every year you would have 400k in social security
so like everything else that comes out of your brain
You are full of shit

if he put in that much after receiving his socialism funded education, then he's making a pretty good argument for socialism.

called the golf course and it's unfrozen enough to play. so i'll be praying with my legs as well. also, my vokey sand wedge.
My favorite sand wedge leans toward peanut butter and jelly, but they probably don't serve those at golf course eatery and drinkery places.

do I have it then that you, Desert Dude will not question my use of Huffpo as an original source because I as well am willing to "take the truth whereever I find it"? Or are you going to impugn my sources while claiming that yours a fonts of truth?
