Holy Smoke - Bhutanese Thimphu

I'm growing Bhutanese Thimphu from Holy Smoke seeds.

It's a land race strain from what I can tell.

Here's a picture of it flowering.

012.jpg

It's been in flowering for about 14 weeks so far. I call it "the forever plant". I'm guessing it could go up to 18+ weeks to finish. And sometimes these extreme sativas never do really finish you just harvest them.

Resin is starting to form slightly on the buds and outter leaf. And it looks like it will yield pretty well, (but it ought to for as long as it's taking to flower).

Aroma - when rubbed on the stalk is sort of like fresh cut wood, basicly pretty unimpressive smelling. If one of my own strains smelled like this at this point of flowering, I'd probably chuck it. And my strains are super quick, pretty much anything beyond 8 or 9 weeks is unacceptable in my book.

Areas that are forming resin on the buds don't really smell much better then the stalk.

And while resin (especially on a landrace) or even aroma, isn't the final word on what bud will be like when you smoke it. I'm willing to bet I won't be to impressed with this when I do finally smoke it. However I could be wrong, and I'll wait till I actually do smoke it, to make a final judgement.

(One other note, this plant is receiving prime light space in my garden)

The flowering time of Bhutan Thimphu can be expected within 10 to 12 weeks for indoor cultivation. Outside crop will be ready for harvest in late September. This marijuana strain can be grown indoors and outdoors with a high yield of 670 up to 800 grams per square meter

If thats all ya got after 14 weeks flowering your doing something wrong mate

First off I wouldn't even trust holy smoke seeds ..they stole those pics for there products ..that "tempu" pic is really KARMA GENETICS sour jack ..just do a lil research you'll see

And dude I'm sorry to hear about the flower time but in all honesty ..there's no swelling going on and all the hairs are white ..at that time frame I would be highly upset ..I say toss it and recoup your losses OR u can take it till the very end to have a nice story to write about :/ ..but that plant is nowhere near finish in another 4 weeks

I'd finish it if I were you;you've gone this far already. It's not unusual for Thai landrace strains to take 16 to 20 weeks to flower from what I've seen on other grow journals.

Oh, I'll finish it for sure, no sense in going this far and not seeing if it's going to surprise me.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm being sent the right seeds. I got 2 strains from Bomb Seeds, that I would swear was some type of ruderalis, from the same place as this.

And hey, I haven't smoked it yet, it might be some kind of super weed. But it's been my experience, that land race strains just don't do anywhere near as good as strains that have been genetically manipulated from line breeding and hybridizing when growing indoors.

Outdoors they would probably do better. But the Fluro lighting I'm using is most similar to natural light.

Here's one of my videos on the subject, if you'd care to watch.

I can tell by the picture the plant appears to be over fertilized do to the curling leaves. Land race sativa's typically need strong HID light to get anywhere near finishing.

Over fert? Maybe, but Im using extremely light doses of fertalizer in soil, that I regulate everyday. It's more likely, that this plant simply doesn't like being indoors.

Mawlawi Gold? My only experience with that is Dr. Greenthumb's. And I wasn't impressed with that at all.

But that doesn't mean that someone else doesn't have something they call Mawlawi Gold, that might be quite good.

But that's the thing isn't it? Finding someone with the real deal that does well, no matter what strain your growing.

And like I said, who knows, this Thuimpa might just blow me out the door when I smoke it.
I only go with facts. You'll find second guessers always come up short...

i dont know about other sites but the attitude is known for doubling pics, and having totally incorrect info. especially Kannabia. all other seedbanks have different info for them.

that strain needed a LOT of light is what the problem is. its better off in the DIRECT full sun. there are no orange hairs, and hardly any resin. could just be a bad pheno.

Everywhere i can find online says 8-14 weeks flowering
They say that, but that doesn't necessarily mean the published numbers are correct.

They have to say something, don't they? If they say "18+ weeks" or "we don't really know; we just sell the ceeds" who's going to buy the ceeds?

My experience has been that some of these sativas really will just keep putting out new flowers indefinitely until you chop them, just as VVB says. The older flowers will ripen, but the trichromes never turn amber, and you're never really sure when they're "done".

I had a similar experience with the Mexican sativa grown in my sig.

Apparently one thing you can do to help "finish" these is just decrease the light hours from 12 to 11 to 10, etc, though I'd be afraid to cause hermies this way, and it also won't work well with any other plants you may be flowering at the same time.

Next time you're looking for fantastic sativas try Kingdom Organic Seeds. I sound like a fucking spokesperson ... but their hybridized genetics come mostly from landrace strains, and are known to pack the sativa punch. Plus you don't have to wait 5 months for them to finish.

soo many screaming genetics going on in this co. for sure my man.

Finish it. Maybe it's total crap. You won't know unless you finish it. The best smoke in the world takes 9-10 months to really finish. Most people have never experienced it.

There is definitely some truth in this.

The sativas tend to not like much nutrients. Looks over fertilized to me. I've done it to plenty sativa dominant plants.

Check out Malberry (or any of the number of companies reselling their stock) seeds at hempdepot for real Malawai.

This has some truth to it also ..I just chopped a foxtaling sativa at 80 ?? Days ..after week 7-8 it looked finished ..I mean frosty small buds ..out of nowhere a shit load of new white hairs popped up ..I mean some buds were swollen orange /pistil calx and other where starting to stack ..I decided to wait a few more days ..last night I had to chop I spotted atleast 10 bananas maybe more started to herm like a mutha lol ..that's another risk of long flowering strains ..
