I don't know about the litmus test on if soldiers will fire upon civilians, my three cousins are all soldiers(2 Marines/1 Army) and they are all militia anti-gov types within and they tell me all kinds of stuff but I've never heard them talk about that. In fact they said many in service would refuse to deploy within the states or use force against fellow countrymen under any circumstances. But, there is a new push to register all privately owned firearms of soldiers and anyone in their household for a military database. This was also in the news this week. They, the pentagon, are using the high suicide rates of soldiers for the reasoning of the firearm database. Why all of a sudden would they even care when this has been an issue for many years and there are 2-3 year long waiting periods to receive mental health care and some soldiers are never able to get it. Disposable Soldiers.

is this term "martial law" applicable to use during a major storm event, like Sandy or Katrina, or even in the short term after 9/11? If the Govt has to put the area on lock down after a major diseaster, this would be a good way to do it, no?
I would think there are many many plans written for first responders to get control, and get to work. The pictures of looters after Katrina made me want the cops to start whacking eveyone coming out of the stores with arm's filled with tv's and liquor. I don't include those taking necessities to survive in the weeks afterword as the same thing though.
