Led light from seed to harvest...

Hello very new to all of this so tired of paying for weed and need a new hobby lol..

I've be doing some reading and have decided to buy a led grow light but there is so much to chose from it could make your head spin...

I want to do 2-6 plants in a 29" deep 48" long and 56" tall box in the furnace room very stealth spot.

Later if everything works out ok i'm going to add a veg area on top of this box.

What I want is a light that will take me from seed to harvest because I don't have lots of cash in my budget to get going and would like this to be very strait forward and easy :eyesmoke:

Anyway this is what I have seen most light are a square with light clusters or rectangle with light in rows is there really a difference really?

What is the difference in the ones that are for bloom I would assume the led are different colors/watts.

I have seen many company's out there many many company's but a few have stood out to me for price and build quality.

To start off I seen this light not bad starter but way out of my price range lol this is the light that got me thinking one light from start to finsh in a small box no heat really low on energy cost that sort of thing.

Then I really started to dig and some how I ended up here reading a artical about leds and this guy said to order a custom one from this company Cidly
http://www.cidly.com/?page_id=217

They have some really nice lights so I did what any smart person would do I ebay'ed Apollo to see what came up wow lots most out of china probably Cidly and lots of others that is when the questions started to pop up what to buy.

Found this kind of cool looking stuff.

So what do you guys think really don't want to spend much well really don't have it lol but I do want led and want to seed to veg on them.

I will take any and all opinion about this subject and what do you think about the watt on these I don't want a huge one because i'm only going to do 2-6 of them at a time...

Thanks guys this is a really informative site glad i found it...

What you ask, there is no easy answer other than NO, unless... the fixture has 2 switches, the flowering leds on a separate circuit. Simple but no one is doing it that I am aware of. Check out my thread for ideas of how I get around this problem

Yeah this one has a switch http://www.ebay.com/itm/150W-Led-Grow-Light-Flower-Veg-Switch-Reflector-Increase-Yields-Grow-Lamp-Panel-/160881822113?_trksid=p2047675.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D11%26meid%3D5290043316632260664%26pid%3D100011%26prg%3D1005%26rk%3D2%26sd%3D150987441809%26 its the one i'm leaning to but i don't know yet..

If I just buy a ufo i just need to supplement the right light spectrum to help it... really the most i think i might grow it 4 at a time...

if you go Apollo, go to Cidly.com for the best price on those units. got 2x A8's for $580 shipped to Canada. I feel like Im pushing their products for them, but its only on the price point and the customization. I have zero experience with them yet.... YET! they are sitting in the DHL truck right now waiting to be delivered on monday!!! so stoked. they shipped on the 30th and would have been here today if not for the weekend.

Good find. Finally someone is making reflectors instead of lenses. You might be onto something with this one. And just a little more than $1/w, not that that should be the reason to buy. Buy one and do a grow thread.

A 180w ufo is probably < 130w, which is about right for one plant

That says ~90-100W consumption and it's $188. Not even close to $1/W. I do admire their honesty, though, apart from some of the comparisons they make between their product line and modular panels. And checking out the illuminated pics I like their choice of spectrum. Appears to be a quality panel for a passable asking price. I think I like the Cidly stuff a little better, though.

I like the idea of the reflectors. A little too pricey for direct from china. 3w x 48 probably pulling 75 - 90 watts.

There are a lot of journals that have been started with people using all types of lights expensive and not. You should try to find one that you can afford that actually worked from start to finish. I've seen some pretty nice journals where people have supplemented the cheaper LEDs with CFLs. Find a few journals that you like, take your favorite aspects of them and you should have yourself a winner.

On a flip side you will find plenty of journals where the people have the nicest set ups but never finish.. Good luck!

Did your apollo led come today ?

If yes ..what ya think of the workmanship from what you can see by having it in
your hands.

Thanks

I looked at this led panel to look at the reflectors . I don't know what to think after looking at it but then again I'm still learning about LED's and such.

To me it just looks like the metal panel was just shaped around the LED to mimic a reflector.

So my question is...is this what a real reflector should look like ?

On another of their panels it says (See below) and was wondering if this is misleading by saying it has 8 bands when the fact is it's only 4. Seems like they are counting the low and high end
of each led and calling it 8 bands.

Is this normal practice or misleading ?

Thanks

PS: I swear these panels might be from cidly but they are just different color panels (green) Anyone know the name of this comapny if not cidly ? They seem to be located in the same district as cidly.

"For over 4 years, our factory has refined the wavelengths of our LED grow light--8 band ,that means 430~440nm,450~475nm 620~630nm, 650~660nm, and white , we research and find that , Red colour helpful for flowering stage , blue color is working on leaves growth stage . 8 band spectrum used in our LED grow contains the most efficient and proven wavelengths for plants Growth&flowering."

quality looks decent. nothing loose anyways moves a lot more air than I imagined. fans are not overly loud but not silent by any means. heat is felt at about 6 inches from the LEDs with the back of my hand. they stay quite cool though. one LED appears to be unlit on all 16 pods. not sure what the reason is. light band we cant see? that doesn't sound right to me though. overall Im happy with my purchase at this (early) point. $66 duty at my door on a $580 order bit my ass a lil.

Well I hope it works out for you. That one led has to be bad but I'm not sure how it's
only one led when they run in a series in each section. Maybe it's the last in series. Did you ask for IR ?

How many watts is your panel ? I hope it's alot for the total of $650.

I been emailing cidly for the last 3 days...they pulled a move on me and said no sales in the USA after numerous emaiis designing my panel for 3 days. All previous emails were going fine with quick responses from them each day.

It was nutty...They asked if I was a pro and where do i live because no one asks about wavelengths..WTF?

All of sudden they said they have contract but not in USA...Doesn't make sense being USA is most likely their biggest market.

Sending email to their headquarters to complain how their salesman jerked me around for days then said no sales to USA and will let me know when they sell to the USA. Nothing will happen but I'm sending it anyway.

So now I'm back to building my own and staying far away from cidly or any chinese led's.I never did feel right in my gut about cidly. I could never get a straight answer to some
questions and at times got different answers. Works out for the best for me in the long run.

I wish the Admin here would check IP's here to see if cidly is pumping their panels.

Anyway..I'm glad they kind of jerked me around letting me think I was able to place an order because now I can build my own with cree led's and know what I'm getting.
Which is what I wanted to do in the first place but you know how it is when looking to save $.

If I was you I would email them about them unlit led's.

I wish you luck .

PS: I was checking ebay today for drivers and found this screwy complaint. The negatives are removed now but now they have no products. I guess ebay is investigating before letting them list again. They haven't been banned so there must be some truth to what they are saying.

Seems cidly is behind this but who knows. They are always going at in china when it comes to $.

Its chinese new year over there. They don't work for 3 or 4 weeks or maybe has something to do with trade talks. Theres been several investigations into illegal import practices. With all the various import bans going on.

Plus the chinese goverment has been hacking into every major (NYT's..WP etc) newspaper here in the USA for days in a row after critical articles being written about the chinese head family and the billions they stole..big curruption . They don't like free speech :)

I agree that the Chinese companies that I spoke to all told me to order before their new year celebration cuz orders would not be taken or sent during that time.

I have zero complaints with Cidly thus far. Just the issue(or non issue) of the one unlit LED on each pod. I'm assuming it's the 730 band of course. I just had no idea that the light was 100% invisible to us. Thought there would be some light or look lit up at least. Very odd but I am not concerned at all.

I fill the same its probable the same factor but in china its really weird i read a article one time that talked about bootleg stuff and how much of it they have selling on the streets over there its crazy. it said that if a company say cidly was not working at night work weekends they would rent there factory out to people so they could pump out a crap ton of well crap lol...

But really I was thinking of jumping on this light but don't know yet. What is the diffrence in flowering led's and veg led color is there one that is better if i order this one from china they will build it like I want could just buy one with a mix of light and call it good?

these guys seem to have all the chinese brands in one place.
http://www.bsled.com/led-grow-light/

you could customize OR get one preset on it's spectrum. more blue for veg, more red for flower to put it simply. I have a spectrum for seedling to harvest. plus I add a 200W CFL 6500k as needed.

~just waiting for my first two lil lady babies to crack open, then the fun begins~
