Leaves at bud sites curl like umbrellas

Can anyone tell me if this is strain related? Its under a 400 watt hps about 15 inches above the plant. The room stays at 70 degrees and my cool tube is cool to the touch. Its growing in 100 percent canna coco and I'm using tigerbloom full strength. Its in week 3 of flower.

You say heat isn't an issue, how about moisture? Whats your humidity at? How often do you water?

Too much nitrogen! (usually too much veg nutes) Had this loads myself before finding out that was the cause.

Does the strain have blueberry in it by any chance?

Humidity is 35 to 45 percent and i water in feed tigerbloom almost everyday. I'm new to growing in coco but it says to water and feed it everyday.

I don't water/feed my coco everyday... coco is great for retaining and releasing moisture... Try letting it dry out for a day or two in between waterings. And the above poster could be right about the nitrogen being a little too much. I can't tell with your pics, but are your leaves dark dark green?

It is nitrogen toxicity though, I promise you. You need to drop the feeding down to every other watering or drastically reduce the dose.

Are you doing a FEED, WATER, WATER cycle? Personally, I do a FEED, WATER, FEED, WATER cycle in my coco... some people tell you that you should feed every time with coco, but I think that is overkill.

lol, canna says to feed coco everyday because its inert. Shes far from dead though budding and growing like crazy!

Tough one. Flushing too much will mean they end up going without nutrients - not enough and you keep getting the nasty clawing. Experienced a little of it in the grow in my sig; sugar punch (super silver haze X the one) has 'true blueberry' hidden in it's 'the one' side of it's genetics. I saw it on the first fan leaf in veg, then not again until week 2 of flower when all the new growth started showing it. I dropped the veg nutes (BioBizz Grow) down to a third of what they had been getting. Stopped the clawing, but now I have fan leaves yellowing at week 6 flower on an 11 week strain. Due to this, and the fact that the clawing has pretty much stopped, I gave it an almost full does of veg nutes on it's last feed. My intention was to try and balance between the two 'problems' - ie nitrogen toxicity vs nitrogen depletion.

I posted that to try and demonstrate how I 'think through' issues like yours. If it was me with your grow, I think I would flush - but would finish up the flush by giving it some nutrient feed at say quarter dose. That way you clear out all the troublesome stuff, but leave in a little nutrients. I say that because you are growing in coco - if it was soil I would expect some nutes to remain even after a flush. If the clawing remains, then I wouldn't flush again, but would just water with plain water till it stops or signs of nutrient depletion force you to give more.

I hear extra cal/mag can help with this issue too, as it helps the plant use the nitrogen more efficiently (but this is unsubstantiated info - not seen any science behind it).

My current grow had some of this... it is dream lotus which is bluedream x snow lotus. Leaves are super dark green but I was only feeding 300ppm dynagro grow veg dwc.

Wow. Can leaves that far fucked up come back? That is one of the worst plants I have seen. Sorry, as that last statement might hurt a bit. Usually they burn off before it gets to that point. Sorry for your loss of yield or just the plant itself soon.
