Dyna-Gro, Liquid Gro vs. Dyna-Gro Foliage pro

I've been using liquid grow for quite sometime and at the same time I've been reading the chatter on foliage-pro since mj is a foliage plant - I was told that it would be more beneficial to use this nutrient... any insights?

Both are intended for veg and the nutritional needs of vegging plants is incredibly easy to meet. Either product will work but I prefer 'grow'.

I never follow what the bottles suggest as that's always too high. I use RO water and use 1.5mls per gallon of grow. I also add 3 mls per gallon of Protekt to balance out the pH and to provide the plant with silicon.

I've been using Foliage-pro with Pro-tekt for the past 4 weeks of vegging and I have had great results. The first 4 weeks I was using earth juice at 2-1-1 but the Foliage pro is a little stronger. About 12 hours after I fertilize I can see the new growth starting. I just followed the feeding schedule on the website and have had great results so far. I plan on adding the Mag-Pro once I switch to flowering. I really like the ratios.

If you have a ppm meter you could just mix your mutes to a specific concentration instead of just using 1 tsp per gallon or whatever it is they recommend.

Foliage Pro is more suited for MMJ then Grow is and this came from Ryan at Dyna Gro before he left the company last year he set me up with Foliage Pro, Mag Pro, K-L-N, and Protekt. This year I am thinking of adding Gravity to the mix.

Veg Cycle in 55 Gallons.
Dyna Gro Foliage Pro 200 ml
Dyna Gro Mag Pro 100 ml
Dyna Gro K-L-N 150 ml
Dyna Gro ProTekt 150 ml
Age Old Humic 12 200ml
Age Old Sea Kelp 100 ml
Endo Maxx 1 tsp per gallon

Bloom Cycle: I adjust the amount of Mag Pro throughout the weeks of bloom cycle.
Dyna Gro Foliage Pro 100 ml
Dyna Gro Mag Pro 200 ml
Dyna Gro ProTekt 150 ml
Age Old Humic 12 200ml
Age Old Sea Kelp 100 ml

Yep I built a 36 site RDWC system that I am dialing in right now. I did one run and found that I needed some changes in the system it self not the nut run.

honestly if dyna grow was that great you would have great results with out any additives the numbers and npk ratios and magnesium levels
are off for hydro weed. people mix the grow and bloom add magnesium add potasium silicate etc... pain in the ass. I prefer
a more complete nutrient.

Dyna-Gro is complete. READ the label. Not to beat my drum but I've been advocating Dyna-Gro (15 years ago in forums) before any one had heard of the company. Everyone was hyped up on GH at that time and mixing all kinds of crap to get the one complete product DG offers. Get one liter of Foliage Pro and one liter of Bloom and you're good to go.

DG was having some precipitation issues with their Foliage Pro but based on a few liters I have, everything stays in solution.

Cannabis is a tropical foliage plant. All such annuals flower....treat it as such and you'll be fine. Think tomato. Treat is as some exotic by overloading with all kinds of crap and you'll fail.

Hey Uncle B,

I currently use the Botanicare base nutes and thinking of making the switch over to dyna to give it a shot. I am a big fan myself of simple and no hoopla if you know what I mean. So you suggest the foliage for veg cycle and the dyna bloom for the flower cycle and wham bam done? No need for the mag pro which i seem to see cats talking about? I use coco and love it. I've been Using botanicare base nutes with tap water ph'd and right down the hatch once a day at 25% strength. I have a very nute efficient vigorous strain with great landrace genes so it doesnt take much. I guess I'm really just trying to get some confirmation and insight. Thanks a ton!

Dynagrow is one of the most complete base nutes on the market.

- People mix Bloom\Grow\Foliage to fine tune the N \ P ratio that they need. Different strains, different stages of growth need different N/P ratios.

- MagPro is available to supplement the Mag for people useing distilled or RO water, if they put enough Mag in the base for use with RO water then tap water would have problems. Irrigation water sources vary significantly as to their cal\mag content and EC, it has to be easily tunable.

- Potasium silicate HAS to be added separately otherwise it will precipitate. No hydroponic fertilizer can include a significant amount of silicates in a concentrated liquid base formulae.

Ben its certainly not complete for a hydro set up. Its way to low on calcium and magnesium and to low in potassium as well. Its also has way to much of its nitrogen in amoniacal form. With all that
said it works ok for veg in hydro its certainly not ideal but i hate it for bloom. In soil its good.

Dyna Grow fertilizers are designed for liquid irrigation of soil crops by trickle irrigation. This is also known as fertigation. For hydroponics these fertilizers should be avoided.
How do you recognize these fertilizers? Check the following: the calcium (Ca) content for hydro should be from about the same to 30% lower than the nitrogen (N) content. The magnesium (Mg) content should be at least 20% to 30% of the calcium content. No more than 10% of the nitrogen should be in the ammonium (NH4) form, and none should be urea.

Well although I recognize you are very knowledgeable I do disagree. I also have read homebrewers posts and he has to use additives to make up for dyna grows short comings.
The usual routine is to blend the bloom and grow as the bloom is super high in phosphorous (not needed so much in hydro) then one must add
the protect to try and bring up the k and to battle the lower mag people add the mag pro which tends to make the high P problem worse. All this and
there still stuck with 30 percent of nitrogen in amoniacal form which is piss poor. Sure homebrewer uses it sure it works. Is it a true hydro nute ...no not even close.
With that being said most of the companies selling nutes at hydro stores are just re bottling existing nutrients for tomatoes etc..although they do
add the fancy art work so the kids think there getting something special. Show me a large scale commercial Hydro operation tomatoe, vegetable etc that uses Dyna Grow. In fact most blend there own to obtain a proper formula and none use a high amoniacal nitrogen source. P.S I played with using Dyna grow and
jacks back in the 80s
I also disagree with the NPK ratio. Have you ever noticed the ratios peters, jacks, plantex and
other large scale profesional companies use in there hydro specific formulas as compared to there 100 other formulas
its always much higher K than P. There doing it for a reason!...dyna grow is primarily a fertigation nute not a hydro nute.
