I'm willing to give it a shot, but I have a little reading to do on the subject.
What do you say cheechZs, want come over and make an AK-47 and Head Band mutant? It will keep your practice up. Ha,Ha.
Like I said, I have to read first, but I just planted two extra clones that I don't need?
Earlier in this thread, I posted a link to a .pdf guide on how to graft properly.. skimming it at least will greatly increase your chance of success :)

Will definitely help with technique, shortcuts, sanity tips, and various other things, as well as toss up a graft or 3 of my own, and am going to be grafting from cannabis -> blue spruce for one of them.. if I can get my hands on baby blue spruces in time.

Hahaha...i like your style!
I am fully expecting it to fail, but if I can get the roots on the spruce big enough and the plant almost adapts to the graft.. it can pump mass water and nutes up the stem and should produce something at least funny to look at. Grafting and I have an odd relationship.. I mash shit that I'm sure doesn't work together, and it proves I'm right. hahahaha

So i want to do a dwc graft, purely cannabis, i want to veg enough to get a ridiculous root ball...wont take long. Then i want to chop her off a couple inches above the main stem and graft a different semi mature strain on to it. What do u think.....simple right??

Make sure that where you plant to graft the new piece.. you have about the same/same thickness of stem on the root ball piece. If you dont, the insides of the stem won't line up or be close, and that'll cause a problem with the graft... just for a lil' bit of a 'gauge'

Can't wait to start,im a hydro grower and like having complete control. I feel kinda helpless when it comes to soil.

AZ is bright, yes - without question.. will take a bit of practice to get the touch required for graft - but it's more than possible to graft cannabis->cannabis if you're careful.. it's the abstract grafts that are a nightmare.

If you guys don't get it together, the newb is gonna beat you to it! I'm confident I can do anything given the how to, so now I'm just waiting on the clones to get big enough!

My clones were just planted Saturday. They had nice roots coming out of the rock wool, but are still adjusting to the soil.

I do have a Mystery plant that I topped and a Head Band that is also coming out of topping. IMG_0532.jpgIMG_0531.jpg They are 8 to 10" tall. "Nice candidates".

I also have a 28" AK-47 that is getting ready to go to the flower room, as soon as there is a space for it.IMG_0533.jpg It won't be moved for at least a week.
I can take cuttings off of the 28" AK-47, but I can't use it as a root mass because I have no space to keep this in my veg room for much longer.
This is what we have to work with for right now.
Suggestions?

Alright everybody's at work and I had a dentist appointment today.
Here's the plan I came up with:
I will either splice or cleft graft the top of the headband clone onto the mystery plant, (which is almost certainly some kind of Kush), at the location of the old topping point on the mystery plant. The mystery plant is pictured first.dbl.jpg
I will splice this top section at a 45° angle along with the top section of the headband clone where the stocks are closest to the same thickness pictured here:HBbisection.jpga more exact measurement will be done before grafting.
I will then splice them together using first aid tape after misting the connection to make sure it stays moist. I could also use Saran wrap or cheesecloth recommendations are appreciated.
I will then place the entire plant under a humidity dome for a week; opening daily for ventilation and care.
Any and all input is appreciated especially from Figong and Ninjabowler, who seem to be to have the knowledge and are willing to help.
Thanks.

Edit: results of first experiment run on 04/01/13: Grafting, a supplement.Me and CheecZS tried to graft one today.

We failed.
We will be trying again as soon as my plants grow out a bit.
Pictures and the experiment are posted in the above link.
