well being that its in a fridge thats insulated and i live in a place where the temps get pretty high then im afraid it would be a big problem with anything besides leds. really dont have a budget but would like to find something thats not gonna break the bank until i can get some cash flow coming in

You'll still have heat buildup even with LEDs, just not as bad -- figure out how you're going to vent it otherwise it's not practical :) Even with venting and LEDs it's probably gonna be a few degrees warmer than your outdoor temps. No ventilation in there will be a furnace just like with an HPS the heat's still gonna build up - For that space a high powered CFL lamp will probably do you better

Almost everything I have ever gotten grow related from amazon came from vminovations. Guano, fabric pots, bulbs etc.... I didn't know they made leds.

How do they get 280 watts form 82 3w leds.......... that's a random number like bysen Helios.

Every time I see a blackstar. It reminds me of that 80's arcade game digger.

The description is incorrect where they state "Designed specifically for vegetative growth" for the UV model as they also have a HO version which is definitely a veg model.

long thread, so i will read through after this post, i have to say sorry if anything i am about to say was covered already, i have grown before, this time i could not afford excess heat as i live on the edge of the desert now and summers get pretty hot, i have had to go LED, i have read heaps on them but could not make up my mind, i am on a pension so can not afford thousands on setting up, i bought the cheap LED panels to start with, did not expect them to work but needed to try, they did work, but not well, i had 4 of them 14w each all sorts of colors, they got the seeds to seedlings ok, but after a month they were all only maybe 6" tall and no way near budding, so i tried 20w spotlights, i used 1 per 2 plants, after 3 weeks the plants got to over 2foot tall, too short but they were chomping at the bit to go into flower, so i did, 12/12 2 months later, 4-5 foot tall, not bad, but not good, thin light airy buds, good smoke, got me smashed, but not what i wanted, i took 7 clones from the 2 best of that lot, 6 survived, they started with the 20w and the panels, grew ok but i knew i would need more light to be happy so i got 4 50w spotlights, they now are in 2 rooms, 1 room for breeding, it is my veg room but i want seeds, do not want to buy again, using colloidal silver to turn a branch each on the 2 plants breeding to male, it has 2 20w spots and 2 of the panels to grow them, i do not need them big or well budded, just need seeds, and in my bud room the other 4 are, 1 panel per 2 plants mounted so they shine from the side and a 50w spot above each plant, they have been budding for a week now, already over 4 foot tall and already many more buds than the parents, i still think i will need another 50w per plant, but in the mean time i will get a decent smoke

Interesting to me that they market this UV heavy light as a vegetative light... UV is supposed to help with resin/THC development, no? Perhaps a vocabulary snafu or I'm missing something.

The description is wrong. You'll see the difference if you look at the color makeup of the diodes in the UV vs HO models.

Today was interesting...

I received my "aquarium lighting" today.
And I got pink eye(conjunctivitis).

Good news, the light is sweet.
Bad news, it was damaged in shipping.
Good news, I sent a "warranty claim" email at 6:02pm, and was off the phone with a "It will be in the mail tomorrow, you'll see it Saturday, maybe Monday at the latest." by 6:17pm ... How's that for customer service? I'm impressed.
Good news, I get to pull the "warranty void" stickers and not void my warranty!
Good news, I also own a camera, and I'm sure you guys wouldn't mind seeing the inside of the new hotness.

I haven't received my beans yet, but I'm not done with the box yet.

Edit: Received tracking info on replacement part by 8pm as well, First-Class Mail.

Customer Service experience with buying 2 A51-90s is the reason I went with "Aquarium Lighting" ... err, Area 51 when the SGS-160 came out. They were incredibly helpful with all of my LED queries, and I learned a shit ton from my emails with EH. One cool ass company to deal with.

Yes, open that hot bitch up and show us the goods :cool:

Honestly, I know nobody wants to deal with a repair right away, but given my situation ... I'm not even close to annoyed.

Customer service gets my cash almost every time, I don't want to pay money and get poor service.

The plan was to get everything sorted, prepped and ready by the new moon, we'll see if that still happens.

Floro's have been used for years as veg lights and they produce UV radiation.

So when a LED Grow Light uses UV for VEG its because it has a history in veg.

Also here is a article that states the high levels of UV radiation emitted, similar research has been done in Canada:

The difference in the article above is they focused on CFL's and I have been referring to tubes.

Almost all of my multi-spectrum LED's that I purchased have UV and veg really well.

Only the more expensive higher quality lights have given me buds to brag about.

The Black star that I had made impressive resin but the buds were of an average size just really dense.

I really like the lights by LLG lately, it gave me amazing results and the content helped with my FM flareups.

Average size you say? buds almost the size of 16oz bottle with 2-3 weeks to go (i think 3+, they've only just begin to swell), 2.4 gallon pot, I estimate she'll pull 5-6z :) they're as big as beer bottles already... i just don't drink beer regularly to have one to compare to -- i'm a cannabis man ;) I pulled over 4z in the same size pot under the same light (smaller plant than this one). Blackstars work well for me :)
