i got my electricity bill and its 48 percent higher than our neighbors with the same sized house, im runnin 1 600 watt digital balast and a small fan to keep the air circulated. i was just wondering because i hear people get caugth with high electricity bills, so my question is should i be worried? they sent a graph of how much electricity we use a month and its crazy, january, we barley used any but some other months arent so bad but some are crazy high, so is this enough evidence for a warrant? im a little freaked. also we used 100 percent more this year than last, and i only got the light in feb, maybe jan and the light schedule is 18/6, however for the first week it was on 24/0 cause i didnt have a timer

No way is that 600 watt light doing all that. i mean you will see some what of an increase in power but I doubt 100% increase. I would check other things that you have running in your house like tv's, computers, maybe leaving the bedroom/bathroom lights on more than usual? Also how old is your house? Old electrical wires and breaker panels can draw more power than is necessary.

I wouldn't worry at all because that is not high. A hot tub, fish tank extra appliances all can add up to that easily. My electric bill is over 700 and I'm not worried. Pay your bills on time and you won't have a problem with them.

If anyone asks tell them you are running a couple dehumidifiers which equal out to 900 Watts or say you bought a second freezer or refrigerator. If you were running a full out grow op then I'd worry. This is just my personal opinion.

No Judge will issue a warrant on the strength of an electric bill ,
Your bill is to high for 1 measly 600w light, something else must be going on , get a plug in tester and you can check what each appliance is using....

100% higher then what ?

Maybe you and your neighnours regularly do not have that many electrical appliances running.

Just pay your electric bill. They could not give a shit what you are burning the lamps for.
You could not be more wrong , the heat sensing equipment used by our local plod squad is shared by electric distributors checking for broken power lines etc,
I would not bank against them working together,
I also have links proving that British gas work with different police forces in the uk

a 600 doesnt produce that much heat anyway i doubt they would be able to see its heat signature unless its cold as fuck out and your blowing the air straight out your window. and your small time 1 600 watt = nothing your just being paranoid, they cant see straight threw house with infared only hot spots from exhaust coming out so unless your running a shit load of lights and ducting everything to your attic vents you will be ok

Nobody suggested they could see the heat from his light , it was merely a suggestion of the Police and Electric providers sharing equipment.

Nanny state haha, we have little to no civil liberties left here I agree , thank crap I am not from here ,
They are actually seeking out unused factory type grows , in this time of economic dimness many a small business are folding leaving behind empty premises and they are on to this.....

Not Paranoid at all my friend , just stating the facts I know of that are relative to the thread,
I run a clonebank in the Uk , if anyone was paranoid it would be me,
There is a difference between paranoia and being plain careful.

A 600W light is probably pulling 700W total, so 0.7kW × 16hr = 11.2 kWh per day. That would run me something like $180 a month, which would more than double my regular bill, so yeah, I can see that happening.

I was in a similiar situation. Just start a paper trail. For instance my "A/C" unit went out and so I had to buy a window unit and a shit load of fans to keep cool. In the winter I didnt have natural gas so I had to buy I shit load of heaters. I was in between jobs at the time and got some help paying some of those bills. So I have those as proof why I'm using so much electricity. Get creative and get documentation talk to the energy people, get that documented that you talked to them and your good. It may be doing to much but I'm not paranoid anymore
