2 1/2 week old plant turning yellow, HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

alright so let me start off here: I germ all my seeds for about 2-3 days in a wet paper towel and then when the root is a few CM long i plant it a few CM down in 1 of the pots that you see. Also, I am using Scotts Potting mix Hyponex as my medium. I also am using a 400w MH light that is on 18/6 until flowering when i will switch to the HPS. So, this is ultimately my first grow as you can see. My grow location is a closet as you can see. So the plant that is worrying me is the eldest, which is roughly between 2 and 2 1/2 weeks old since germination. I havent given the plants ANY nutes yet. (I have the fox farm trio for when they're ready) but yeah thats pretty much it, and as far as the distance of my 400w MH from the plants, i put my hand over the tallest one (in the middle) and my hand was basically just kinda warm, not too hot or anything. but yeah ive read alot about not freaking out over small problems with seedlings, so the leaves have been around this color for the last few days and growth looks like it has slowed QUITE a bit.. so heres my question......... why the yellow leaves? oh and also it shouldnt be an over watering concern, because for the first few days the plants were in soil i only sprayed the soil making sure i didnt water too much, and now that theyre all planted i started pouring water in just until i got a small runoff, thats IT. Also, to the left of the plants in the pics i have a fan that i can either aim at the plants or at the light for cooling and i also have the exhaust fan in the pic as well. and only water it once the top soil looks pretty dry.. I havent been taking the PH of the soil because i dont have a pen only a little test kit but i assumed for the better part i was doing everything pretty good... so am i doing something wrong?... or did i post this for nothing and im actually a fuckin great marijuana farmer...? lol

FYI.....the strain is AK-48, if you cant tell by the color of the pots... the two closeup pics are of the same plant... all help would be appreciated it.. if i forgot anything lemme know

oh and if you happened to be wondering.. the left plant is the oldest, about 2 and a half weeks, middle is second, about a week and a half, its so tall because i had it in the dark at first when i planted it and it shot straight up and the 3rd just sprouted about 3 days ago

dude it looks like your growing in manure, has to be way too hot
how is it way too hot if i put my hand over the top of the tallest plant and my hand didnt even burn a LITTLE bit? and its almost like its a mixture of soil and a little bit of like mulch or something..? but the back of the soil bag says it has nitrogen, perlite etc, nothing like out the ordinary

and why is the OLDEST plant yellow and the two that are even younger still like a deep green color?

edit: ALSO, the soil around the plant in the pics is actually right after i watered it a decent amount

id say your ph could be really wack on your water.. did you leave ur water over night to let the chlorine evap? only water that thing if the soil if dry... and id get some CFL lights and they would perk up and its really cheap 6500kelvin lights only for veg though.

i dont get it though ive heard of people using the 400w mh for veg stage and then switch to the hps for the remainder of the flowering period?

Plants are finicky, but it shouldn't be yellowing like that. It will die soon if you don't figure it out. If I had to guess I would look at venting and water. When they are babies they have no roots to speak of and need little water. Also, you have a big light and it is close. Maybe back that up 6 or 8 inches. Hope you make a speedy recovery.

The best thing you can do as a seedling is let nature run its course. If your not doing anything wrong dont try to fix it you could end up making it worse. If anything raise your light. Its a really strong light if you move it a bit further away they will still receive the right amount of light you got a 400w mh on 3 seedlings. Kind of a waste of money and energy as seedlings. Your worrying too much

thanks for the replies uys, ive also heard that it could be nitrogen deficiency? because that plant is like 2 1/2 weeks old and i havent given any nutes yet and im reading that maybe i should like asap? just a very low dose

Dude if your gonna feed them only give them the big bloom the other stuff is way too strong for seedlings, trust me....i would add some big bloom if anything but i dont think thats your problem because that soil has nitrogen in it.....and dont take this personal but i cant even tell you the number of times ive helped people transplant out of that shit soil because it did the same thing to their seedlings,,,that shit is the worst.....and watering till you see runoff is not for seedlings that havnt been fed yet you need to keep the soil just MOIST so the roots can grow, they are just tiny and that really stunts young plants.....goodluck...i would get them out of that soil asap...

To start seedlings the best and safest thing to use is a bag of seed starter mix any brand...i toss a little perlite in and pre wet it and press all the water out so the mix is just moist NOT wet...and start them in small cups with holes in the bottom ....germ the seed and plant it right below the soil , put some plasti over the cup so you dont even have to worry about watering and dont touch it after that and the seedling will be up in just a few days ...you can get the mix at home depot for 4bucks ...people will tell you that you need fox farm and this and that but trust me you dont need that bs for just seedlings .....ive done it this way for 20years but with a more advanced twist but same idea......do that and thank me when your growing monster plants....good luck lil bro...im here if you need some help later on....

he's talking about the soil being too hot. Nothing you can do now but wait it out. Sometimes seedlings stop growing up because they are building roots. Use Kangaroots once she gets out of the woods. It's a lot milder than some of the other nutes and helps build your root system which is the most important part of your plant. Bad roots...weak, unstable plants.

For future reference, stay away from commercial potting soils. By some good top soil and amend it with rock dust and worm castings and you'll have much happier plants.

Topsoil is the worst thing you can tell a new grower to start seeds in....might as well try and start them in a pot of mud....you need something light and fluffy ....peatmoss/perlite is the best for new growers or coco but i would go with a bag of peatmoss.........p.s amending topsoil is for a more seasoned grower, its too tricky to get a good air/water ratio......get seed started mix made by jiffy and your done....

dude now its so hot i doubt it will live

you over did it, you may be able to flush it all out with like 5 gallons of water or more....

Im sayin lil bro, its tough with seedlings , they are soooo tiny and hard to handle ....how big is it (sets of leaves) if it has a few sets of leaves on it you can try and transplant it to new soil but you gotta be really careful ....i would germ another seed and get that mix i told you about....i know how to transplant small plants , large plants but when your messin with seedlings all bets are off.....i wouldnt stress it man its not a big deal.....just start again, ive done it, and so has everyone else.....it happens......
