I think I'm going to give her one last heavy feed, then start turning down the nutes and/or just flush her for the next week or two and see how the trich's are looking..Hoping for a good harvest and wishing all the money and time I've put in this isn't wasted on a pre mature harvest, so I want to be sure as can be before doing anything else at this point.

Just my personal opinion,trichs are the way to go,this is where the actual THC of the plant is maturing.If it's couch lock your after

The third state is amber. Amber trichomes contain degraded THC --> CBN. CBN represents a loss of 90% potency (from THC).

CBN is not desirable in any harvest, since it not only represents a huge loss of potency but research into the substance has also shown that CBN does not produce a high like THC does, CBN produces a more sickly feeling not a true high.

It's a common misunderstanding that amber trichomes produce a couch lock high, it's mainly because wrong information has been spread around and people keep perpetuating it, in the end everybody believes it's fact when in reality it isn't.

As already stated in the thread; amber trichomes contain degraded THC --> CBN.

CBN does not really produce a high, it does affect the high but not in a positive way.

CBN is pain relieving (as are most cannabinoids) but it does not reduce muscle tension/spasm.

Cannabinoids like CBD, CBG and CBC affect the high more than CBN does.





If you are looking for pain relief I would suggest you grow Indica strains and preferable ones with a decent % of CBD and CBC.

CBD is not only analgesic (pain relieving) it also reduces muscle spasm and it's a muscle relaxant (a very relevant cannabinoid for you).

CBC is also analgesic and it has a sedative effect as well.

THC however is also analgesic, therefore CBC should not be the end all of your search for a perfect strain

I just harvest the tops as they are ready, looking at the trics via 60x, when I get too much clear, I cut right above that point. A few days later, I can chop a few more, and so on.

For anyone still with me on this one. After I fed her again the very tops of all bud sites produced fresh new pistils...Should I consider going longer than a week like planned? On all bud sites as well as tops producing new pistils the hefty part of the nugs also threw out some pistils as well.

Generally speaking, if you are not seeing a bunch of amber trichs on the calyx, then another week or two will not hurt. Just keep an eye on them. A little extra time will help with your yield.

If you leave all of the popcorn you can make awesome edibles with it. I got 65g of popcorn from my last plant, made 2 lbs of budder for awesome cookies, and some banana blueberry bread that knocked my ass so hard into the couch, I found a remote control I lost in the '80s.

Just let it go until YOU think it's ready. It's smokeable now, so it's strictly up to you as to when it feels right.

if you want to harvest the trichs, i'd highly recommend doing it with dry ice and a 110 micron bubble bag or silk screen. Its VERY simple, you get product instantly, and in abundance. You can then use that to make your butter or oils

The hairs turn amber, that has nothing to do with Tric's... Tric's can only be seen with a magnifier... When ALL of your white hairs recede into the bud you will be close…

Go get yourself a mag loop to check…your tric’s!

Tric’s Notes that most do not know:


Plant will make ‘clear’ tric’s until the day you harvest…


Plants Tric’s [after harvest] will change color as plant ripens, I check for frosty buds, when I smoke the first of a plant, after it is dried and cured…


Degraded Tric’s will appear Amber/Tea colored = Less THC… Not a couch lock high…

Harvest Plant when you see no White hairs [they will recede into calyxes]


Harvest plant when you have 5-10% clear Tric’s…your plant will never have all milky/cloudy tric’s [5-10% clear--80-90% cloudy/milky--and yes, 5-10% Amber/Tea colored

Sativa’s are going to take longer, 12-15 weeks for it to finish [maybe longer?] I just can’t wait that long [HA!] I don’t want an 8’ indoor plant, and a wait… I grow a short bushy Indica… Bred to finish in bud at 7 weeks…


I harvest my Indica plants when they get around 90% Milky/cloudy Tric’s…that is at the seven week mark in the bud room, the high is what I want… If I let the plant go longer, the percentages of Amber/tea colored tric’s might get to 5-10% after three more weeks…

The high stays the same, so why wait? I grow the same Indica hybrid every plant cloned, over and over…as I scope the buds after the dry/cure more amber shows with the finish.


If you want ‘couch lock’ and don’t mind the wait, a good Sativa would be the way to go.

If you have experienced a “Couch Lock” effect with a good Indica, then it was probably just some exceptionally great high content THC Indica…

As far as I know there's no strain that you tell maturity by the pistols, or by a timeline, it goes by the tricomes, you want to harvest when about 50% of the tricomes are milky and 50%of the tricomes are amber, also depending on whether you want a higher thc content or cbd content, more amber tricomes equals more cbd content due to the thc in the tricomes breaking down, more milky tricomes equals higher thc content, as long as the tricomes are fully developed
