rotten smell from plants :(

I have searched & searched the net for an answer but to no avail. I have 5 autos in a 2x2x1.8 tent. They are well into flowering. I reckon another week or two & theyr ready. Opened the tent the last few days and as I went to lean over to smell the bud, it smells rank, although I can still smell the good smell, the bad one is worrying me. Could it be my mix of nutes? Or am I on my way to a budrot epidemic? Lol! I've been using canna a&b, no bad smell until I added superthrive to the mix :(
My humidity is def HIGH during the night. It sits at around 43-50% during the day. But when I check when lights first go on in the morning, it is at a massive 80-90%!! How the hell can I lower this? I tried leaving the oscillating fan on 24/7, opening the vents etc & my exhaust fan is on 24/7 already.
Help appreciated!!! ☆

I duuno, but 80-90% RH and you kind a ask for mold/mildew

I run my ventilation 24/7 (been on for years) and my fan`s are on with the light and I never had any problems but my RH also stay between 30% and 70% (mostly 40-50%) all year, did experience problems with 30% in Veg so got a humidifier if I had +80% I would for sure invest in a dehumidifier if I had plans to continue to grow


but a few pictures might help even tho they cant give "us" the smell "we" might be able to spot a problem ? can you see any visible problems ? like Bud root ?

I will get pics in a bit, my room has a body still asleep. Lol. Yeah I really need to get the humidity down for this last two weeks or so! I defo will be investing in a dehumidifier for next time!! I cant see any rot, plants look exceptionally healthy, buds look good. Just the shitty smell. Lol!

you may need to consider a dehumidifier to control your humidity, as 80-90% is very high and will likely cause issues eventually.

Your buds will absorb the smell from the grow area.
I know some one that grows in the moldy smelling basement. There smoke allways has the moldy after taste to it.

Could just be the way the bud smells, as it going through it's stages.

I had some Kush forgot the Cross, it smelled like dog shit about 4-5 wks in flower.

Okay, I had something similar happen with my tent grow. During the day, tent open, lights on, the plants smelled like weed. Fine. But during the night, the week smell went away and when I first opened the tent in the morning the odor wasn't weed but fetid plant matter. Yuk!

A couple of things were going one. Humidity in the tent was WAY high overnight. Like 90%. I was hoping that I would avoid mold by letting the plants dry out during the day, but I was quickly convinced I would need a dehumidifier, as later on in flowering when the bud put on weight I would most likely get mold.

Using the dehumidifier pulled out several cups of water per night (small tent, just two plants) and kept humidity to about 50%. The smell thing however didn't change that much. At night the pot smell would go away and was replaced with this other smell. I just guessed that the bud needs the dryness and warmth of the light to give off its scent. In a way it was similar to what happened when I cut down the plants at harvest. The pot smell went away for a while as I was drying and curing.

So if what you're talking about is what happened to me, you don't have to be concerned about the loss of smell, as it comes back with the lights on. But you should be concerned about the potential of mold.

Yeah, im doing that as we speak. Dehumidifier being picked up 2moro.
Another question, when does the bud actually "swell"? I pretty much monged my way thru this first grow. Meant to take 7 weeks but its now 10! They are going well, although I'm afraid I will have teeny weeny buds. Lol. Pic attached :)

I suffered with the dreaded rot, from outside it looked fine but opened it up and it was horrible. Get your humidity under control ASAP mate.

it looks several more weeks away.....it swells at the very end

its just a heavy afghan pheno i am too familiar with the smell blueberry / cheese / dirty socks / pepper / baby booboo

it will be really spicy after cure ;)

2 of the 3 parents are afghan crosses , the skunk #1 and the NL
ive noticed on my afghan kush's that some smell really bad growing but are very tastey once cured

all i grow is auto's :) i have one photo going and ive been chopping it back for like 5 months >.< cant bring myself to flip it
i got so used to 24/0
