honestly... i cant even knock soulja boy or however you spell his name.
the dude is basically doing what all of the hip hop legends of the 80s did, create his own music, having fun, and just so happened to be getting rich off of it. hell, before mr. collipark signed him he had everybody screaming YAHHHH BITCH!!! lol.
remember... hip hop is about being able to express yourself in a way you usually wouldnt be able to. i dont think soulja boy killed hip hop, label execs did.

My god.. I am fucking blown away by the ignorance and immaturity of Souljaboy.. wooooooooooooow it blows my mind.. How can anybody be so stupid?
Ice-T :
*Forefather of REAl gangster rap
*Married to a nudey model freak with body parts that soulja boy can only wank to
*Well respected,
*well rounded,
*STABLE career,
*a main character in 1 of the biggest television shows on tv

His 'old ass age' is called life experience, and something money cannot buy and Soulja boy can never obtain or understand

When Ice T was souljaboys age he was bad ass.. Living a life which would provide REAL stuff for him to base his career off of...
Soulja boy.. what a joke

hip hop ain't dead. there is just a mainstream lane for it now i.e. white america. i think, no, i know it's more g-rap on the market than ever before. the fact of the matter is more friendly rap or rap marketed to the white demographic is much more lucrative than real g-rap and i think a lot of old rappers resent that, due to the work they put in and the amount of dollars the received for that real shit. on some real shit, souljah boy is dead right, ice-t is hating on him. i think if your from any hood and you make it out the hood, no one who came up the same way, should feel animosity toward you because, they know the struggle. outside of snitching you should congratulate anyone of us that made it out the hood. real niggas out the hood don't listen to soujah boy anyway, so, we ain't concerned with what he do, our focus is getting money and staying true to the game. listen to jeezy, ross, jay, and all the other real niggas from the streets if you want that real g-shit and don't pay attention to the souljah boy's and you'll realize hip hop is alive. r.i.p. to all the greats :joint::joint::joint:

I somewhat agree with Ice-T about the whole souljaboy thing. I would never buy his cd or even download one of his songs, but that doesn't mean that he killed hip hop.

This is Kanye West's response to the drama.
“Soulja boy is fresh ass hell and is actually the true meaning of what hip hop is sposed to be. He came from the hood, made his own beats, made up a new saying, new sound and a new dance with one song. He had all of America rapping this summer. If that ain’t Hip Hop then what is? A bunch of wannabe keep it real rappers that ain’t even relevant, recycling samples trying to act like it’s 96 again and all they do is hate on new shit? Niggas always talk about the golden age but for a 13 year old kid, this is the golden age!!! That song was so dope cause everything he said had a hidden meaning… that’s Nas level shit… he just put it over some steel drums which is also some Nas shit if you had the 2nd album cassette with the bonus track “Silent Murder” on it. In closing… new niggas get ya money$$$$$$$$$$ Keep this shit fresh and original…. ain’t no fuckin’ rules to this shit and that’s what real hip hop is to me”
I have to agree completely with that, except that souljaboy is in no way "Nas level shit". Souljaboy wins for making money and bringing more listeners from white suburban america to hip hop.

Hey least he isn't following the whole "Gangsta" example.

Being honest, you know hes made some waves if he has people that well established trashtalking him... It would have been better to ignore but basically putting MORE attention on someone he claimed killed hiphop when his ass was doing gangsta rap anyways?

Mainstream southern music, for the most part, is ghetto kids who make songs for fun, or for the clubs.
nothings wrong with that... hell look at rappers delight. thats what started hip hop. i dont think theres a problem until one of these "club" rappers start saying they are one of the greats. THEN you have a problem. oh and btw... im from Charlotte NC, born and raised. used to live in atlanta. there are serious rappers who are legends (Outkast, goodie mob, dead prez) and future legends in the making. If you hate whats happening to hip hop, turn off your radio. turn off BET and MTV. invest in the underground.

Your a victim of the this age of worthless media.
yeah there are different kinds.. but do you really find it acceptable that a genre born of harsh reality has been turned into the shit like Soulja Boys music by people like him.

first off soulja boy aint hip hop no matter what the fuck he does, and if you think hip hop is dead pop in the carter 3 and light a blunt......to each his own soulja aint for me but doesnt mean he didnt find a way to tweek a portion of hip hop societys money into his own pocket. listen today its about ringtons, his gay as song made #1 for ringtone sales a few months back, not b/c itreflects the greatness of hip hop or that he is the best rapper, simply put look at all of the 12-17 yearold kids with cell phones, maybe younger and thats who his kitty rap is focused on. I dont know a grown man that enjoys hip that would by his horrible rap but I know atleast 4 of my younger cousins that got it.

LMAO!!! im a victim! dude... YOU dont know true hip hop. Legends in the game today have so-called "bubblegum" lyrics because, like soulja boy, they rhymed for fun. Example: Biz Markie. True consciousness in rap didnt start till KRS-ONE and Public Enemy stepped on the scene. I suggest you SERIOUSLY study the start of hip hop before you throw your .02 in.
