I just started doing 24/0 veg, I was doing 16/8 I was a freaking idiot because 24/0 rules lol. Jus a couple questions though since the lights are on longer now should I feed the ladies water 4 times a day instead of my usual 3 times? Also when transplant them into flowering would it shock the baby girl as it is going from 24/0 to 12/12?

You water the plants when they need watering, not based on a set schedule. I've never in my growing had to water more than once a day.

24/0 gives me more nodes and less stretch.
i find this favourable in veg, however when i switch to 12/12 they stretch a hell of a lot in the first couple of weeks.

if i switch to 18-6 for a week before flowering they stretch less during the initial flower building phase.

I started out 24/0 from sprout to 3 weeks they seemed to be growing sluggish. I topped then switched to 18/6 in about 3 days KA-BOOM huge spurt and then 2 weeks to where im at now I topped once again Im gonna wait two more days then its flowertime. The 24 and zip seems to be a bit too intense that little bit of dark goes a long way. I really believe that they do most growth in the dark. could just be in my head

true dat, but do you think you should have at least 4 hr dark period for the root system?
My clones are under 24/0(cool white) and they are always ready to come outta the bin in five to seven days. When I have heavy orders for snips I employ mercury vapour MH(frosted) 18/6 leaving the daylight tubes on 24/0. I can get 200+ commercial grade snips from my six moms every week.

For over ten years, i always went 24/0. I just recently switched to 20/4, just out of curiousity. I will have to say, 20/4 seems much better! The plants appear to grow faster, PLUS they all showed sex within 3 weeks! Just sharing my experience.

I also did 24/0 for awhile and switched to 20/4 an noticed alittle better. The cloner i have the light is on 24/7 all the time and i get awesome roots from them.
When the light is off the plants leafs hang down and clones are too gentle to risk they coming back up again. So i leave light over cloner an leaves always upward. Most time for me if leaves on the neoprene hanging down it usually wont make it.

the truth about 24 vs 18. 24 hours the plant will grow a bit faster . 18 the plant will grow a bit slower. ok now the up side of 24 bigger plant. the down side smaller yield. up side to 18. bigger rots. and yield is larger down side smaller plant. (bigger roots bigger the yield ) that's how they absorb fertilizer and water . I have done side by side compare final yield always larger with 18. at night . the plant will grow roots. 24 hours its just growing up top. what I do is I run a small t5 4 bulb 24 hours a day. and 12 hours of the day a large 1000 watt mh runs. so yes there is light al day but only very strong light 12 hours. gets them to grow an average of an inch a day and I use rooting hormones . I also leave a small fan on to make the plant grow roots. with out the fan and hormones I would only do 18 . the yield difference is 10 to 20 % more 18 vs 24. so 18 is the way to go if you are low budget no rooting hormones so on. and keep the temp under 75 will make the roots thrive . my opinion only what I have see before . even if the plant is bigger does not mean the plant will yield more. it has to be able to absorb the fertilizer and water.

I did 24 a day for my first few grows. then I started reading about roots and decided to go with 18/6. i keep the clones in veg for a couple months so i don't need them to get bigger faster.

Yo bro listen, if u water your plant 3 to 4 times a day, its definitely gonna die! Your drowning the roots, you need to let them get air, I water my plants once a week or every five days in the summer. And 18/6 works better for me. 24/0 put to much stress on them..just my opinion

Get the science people. This has nothing to do with growing roots or any other plant tissue. Take a few minutes and Google photosynthesis and plant light saturation points.

FWIW, if you have an abundant root mass and foliage which will quickly wick off soil moisture, you sure may need to water more than once a day. There have been plenty of times when I was giving my plants 2 qts. of water/day. Why? Because they required it.
