Need quiet

Hey all

I'm searching for SUPER quiet fans, both for intake of fresh air, and for circulation of air inside the chamber. I want QUIET, that is the most important factor for me. I'll use multiple fans, they just have to be quiet as hell.

also, if anyone has used/knows about a really quiet portable air conditioner? I'm willing to spend a bit of cash for it, the temps in my room are at 86 degrees, and i'm only growing a couple bean and goard plants in there under a 105watt CFL.

like I said...the main word here is QUIET, i'm going for super-stealth, and that requires almost no noise.

I've done my research, but none of that really compares to actual reviews and testimonials.

I really appreciate anyone who can help, even if it's just to reommend NOT to buy something.

Would your space allow for Egg Crate foam? Egg Crate foam is what DIY'ers use as a cheap material to sound proof their studios/home entertainment rooms. Could be useful for this as well.

Computer fans, and a computer power supply. Thats what I use. You can get near zero noise fans for computers.

if you can do this(a PC PSU and fans) let me know and I will pick some good ones out for you and link you to them.

will cost around 25-50$

awesome man, thanks for the help. I can definitely consider PC fans, especially for the intake vents. I'd love to be shown some super-quiet fans...link me up man!

These are great as well....Scythe, Vantec, Coolermaster and Zalman all have quiet case fans:

Vantec Stealth system fan kit Cooling reviews - CNET Reviews

I still recommend muffling edges with eggcrate foam... inexpensive at a Hobby Lobby or leftover from a new hard drive packed with foam.

I currently have a 2000cfm blower fan that can't be heard through a closet door 2 feet away :)

btw, the kind of psu you want is an AT power supply. You could mod ATX to work but AT already comes with a power switch and doesn't need to be attached to a motherboard to work.

Hey man, sorry, didnt reply to the foam thing. I'm not sure about that...the fans are going to be sitting basically IN the door, drawing air in from outside...there doesnt seem to be a space for padding to go. I'll have to give it some thought...but that does make a lot of sense.

do you think those rolls of pink insulation from home depot would work, or is it a specific sound foam?

fatmat, dynamat, if your willing to spend a little money just go for that. if it can shut a 8cyl chevy engine up it should make your fan noise disappear. later.

oh yeah, and if your going for "super stealth" wrap your fans in dynamat and then use it to insulate your cab. shouldn't cost too much. It will be as quiet as a cabinet should be, if you get what I mean..byebye.
