garage door question....

I was high has hell and I came in the driveway too hot.... long story short.... I hit my garage door going about 2-3 mph.... my car is all good.... but the bottom 2 panels are bent a lil on the right side of the garage door.... one wheel is off track..... the track itself is all good no bend.... is there a way to bang the small dents out or will I have to replace the panels? how much do the panels cost?:weed::weed::weed::weed:

you might be able to get the wheel back on the track, but i doubt you'll be able to bang everything back to square. maybe a good auto body technician could come close.

how the hell did you manage to do that?

I was high has hell..... came in driveway like at 22 mph.... dinged door lil bit.. shitty weather also...

all it took was force to get it off the track, so force should get it back in. but the door will likely roll like shit even if you do bang out the dents. i'd guess you're looking at about a grand to replace it completely.

Getting the wheel back in the track is easy enough. Those aluminum doors are not very expensive. I have never replaced just a panel, but if youo have to take the whole thing down, for the love of your hands, arms, and face, do NOT try to unwind the spring(s) yourself, unless you know what you are doing. Actually they probably aren;t that wound for such a light door.

Maybe get the car in the garage and reverse it into the door to straighten it out?

its metal.... I put a magnet to it and it stuck..... how much is to just replace the panel? like 100 bux per panel without labor? its 2 car garage door.... I could prolly just put it back on track and it will go up and down and shit... but im ocd I have to get those bends out

Well, OCD, that's probably 25 gauge metal. You will not be getting back to perfect. You can probably find the single panels and do it yourself for a couple hun, tops. Check with your local installers for extra parts.

edit : or get a rubber mallet from harbor freight for about 3 bucks and bang on it a bit

Well if it had been me I'd have immediately hit it with some heat and whacked it with a mallet (use a 2x4 not the mallet head so you distribute the force), from the inside. If that didn't do it then I'd replace the panels and if they no longer sold panels, the entire door, ugh..... sorry

I was thinking the exact same shit... if not for those gump ass squares on it that could easily be done.... but since it not totally flat I donno

You should be able to pry track back in place
Is the paneling of the door hollow section or just pressed sheetmetal ?
If it is just pressed sheet metal you could fix it easy
You just need 2 people , one on the front side holding some kind of dolly ( a block of hard wood or a heavy smooth block of steel ) against dent
Other person behind door hitting exact same dent with a mallet or hammer , you have to be accurate where you hit with the hammer though
If you miss exactly where dolly is being held you will make it 50x worse
You don't have to wack the shit out of it either (or you will stretch the material the door is made from )
Just keep tapping it untill dent is flattened out , you may have to sand out small marks left or use some kind of filler then re-paint
