I imagine the reset button will manually cycle from ON to AUTO to OFF to AUTO and when held down will reset.
I'm guessing on that because there's normally a manual button.
I've not used that one.
But normally you hit program or hold it down.
The area you are fine tuning might flash or maybe it doesn't.
If it flashes on the days then keep singularly pressing week button until all days are showing.
Then select the hour and minute for the start time.

You weren't watering enough.
Look at the original pot, it looks like it's never seen moisture on the sides.
Probably chronic underwatering leading to dry areas and the water running through rather than soaking the whole medium.
The fact bottom watering has fixed the issue would suggest so...
Must of been a reaction between the elastic and the bleach.
I can't think what it is but something mixed with bleach create toxic gas , so I'd imagine it can react to certain products.
I tend to use the elastic nets when things need beating down and laying out, since timing ut when perpetual...
I've reused them plenty of times.
Though a rigid net is much better than those stretchy things.
But you could take off the hooks and put the net through the wash if you wanted.
I'd probably wash with detergent and then wash without.
Can you take some pictures with natural light, or lights off with a flash or lamp.
It's really difficult to see and diagnose.
From what little I can see , it doesn't look like bugs I've seen, tips are curled down too.
