you could probably get away with apple juice in a DWC system. A true aero system (or even hybrid) it may cause problems. Just watch to make sure the airstones do not get clogged or things start growing. Stuff like bacteria and other little creatures LOVE sugar!

yep - low nighttime temperatures and/or nute deficiency can cause purpling. Of course, some strains are selectively breed to produce purple regardless.
So the colors may be pretty, but can be an indicator of a problem (or genetic).
