If you have the right environment then outdoor is better in every way, IMO, but I am biased.

Green mulch is a great idea I use it all the time, I grow outdoors. I think some indoor growers would warn against bringing plant materials from outside into the grow room because of the risk of introducing insects from outside into the growroom.
