what is the best medium for a beginer?????

When they look like the were lacking in nutes due to ph fluctuation i foliar sprayed. think that made them worse but it took a few day to get this way. I thought it might have been burning. My lights were 36 inches above the pots. I've moved them to about 50 inches now. Thinking a 1000 watt...

Not too sure on the strain i was just given them by a wise old man. (he must have been wise as he had a great long beard) So i started growing. Any ideas on what would make a plant shrink in size to about half size. Almost minature in 4 days. :wall::wall:
