That bump will not hurt anything as your water level is above that and your pump will pull from one resv and dump to the other insuring you have a solid mix. I've worked this exact type of setup with no issues.

My first recommendation would be to get a good meter. It's one of the most important tools in your box. The other option is to purchase some electrode storage solution. Sometimes the heads can get dry and need to be reconditioned by sitting in this solution. Ive brought back some meters to life...
