marijuana clones Vs seeds

clones are great the drawback to that is its only one strain ive read that they break down the gentics and the clones get weak to susceptible to disease mold bugs with seeds it brings different aspecks of the parents to the seeds like a woman has 2 babys at diffent times like a boy colored hair or 2 boys with different colored hair bongsmilie meaning different aspects

Both clones and seeds have advantages and disadvantages. With seeds you've got phenotypes which can result in very different plants from the same strain. With clones if you find a strain with what you want, then you get exact copies of the charctereistics you want. Yes, eventually you can get replicative fading, but that takes a few generations.

i agree sir, and also with phenotypes of the male and female parents you can breed new strains

My plants from seed grow bigger and better than my clones- the clones are fine- but I would get 2” main stalks when growing from seed- the clones around an inch and a quarter

That's pretty typical in my eperience, clones don't really have what you'd call tap roots, they don't tend to "go deep" for nutes/water.

You're referencing Muller's ratchet. Here's a good article on that

Ive ran some clones as long as 6 years with no deterioration at all.

the only clones I’ve ever seen any change or deterioration in had undergone some sort of traumatic stress event(ie: almost/basically freezing, getting extremely dry for a week straight)

Just looking back through the history of the different cuts, it seems that when a cutting gains popularity, that "original cut" is around for about 8 years in my research. I'm not sure why, if it's economics, genetics fall apart, it people just get sick of the same thing? Or the genetics get bred out to there alleged end like gelato? With my old man's mother plant, his buddy got busted so the cops got it but she was 10 then.

I’m a huge advocate for growing regular seeds to pheno hunt the best possible genetics for your grow environment. Then once you have a keeper cloning it to maintain that special plant.

I’m not really big on buying or collecting clones from other people. I’ve seen many times how genetics grow differently in different gardens. I’ve also heard all the horror stories about pests, and diseases from taking in clones. I’m not sayingI wouldn’t ever do it, but it would have to be something special from a very clean trusted grow.

Exactly what I'm doing right now. If Rasta Jeff or JR Token or someone wanted to send me a special cut, then of course I'd have to take it lol. But I'm the guy who is responsible for giving other people healthy, non contaminated cuts so I'm ultra paranoid. If Mr. Grow It or something did send me a cut I'd probably just buy another tent to grow it in for a while just to make sure.

This goes back and forth. I don't even keep mothers. I just clone, veg, take a cut before flower. Flower out the big one, start growing my clone. Before the clone goes into flower I take a cut. No fall off in-between generations. I will say if u let a plant get sick it looses something, or if attacked by a disease or pest that it may never be the same again. I have been cloning without mothers with some strains for 7 or 8 years with no genetic deterioration. Don't let pests and disease into your grow environment.

Just like in the wild with everything. Nothing is evolving, only devolving. You can't turn a house dog back into a wolf. Breeding removes traits that can't be put back, also when something is attacked by a parasite or disease and that attack depletes the host of a specific thing. Once the food source is gone the attack stops, if the host lives it will forever be different. It didn't evolve tho, it lost something causing a physical change in future generations.

I gave it a read. Looks like they don't know anything still other than some rare cases reported, and if you look at the right reports the wrong way and ignore everything but what your trying to prove u can say CERTAIN reports show how cannabis plants CAN

"While this may be rare in cannabis plants, certain reports show how cannabis clones can lose their cannabinoid and terpene profiles after several years of cloning."

Seeds for the win everyone just growing the same clones limits diversity and in the more modern cannabis genepool it's already very limited plus i like a bit of variety personally cos growing with seed you see it all the good the bad and the ugly you dont get that with clones plus theres also the fact every cut comes from a seed at somepoint anyway

hey bro what about if their vegged for a few months outside? will the stalks still get as big as seed plants? or are u talking about when you only give them a month? im at 3 weeks veg for my clone and the stem is fairly thick but started small. prolly not as thick as a seed plant at wk 3. you grown any clones into 5 footers? stalks big then??

Yes - current grow has 5’ plants from clone- main stalk is significantly smaller than when I grow from seed at the same maturity- clones have the disadvantage of not having a tap root so they don’t get quite as big- however I am growing indoors with height restrictions- outdoors- with longer veg I would imagine that you would have bigger main stems
