Elk River (GG4/Choc D. x 79 X-mas)

Seem like that is christmas tree shape you like. Maybe anyway.
What is cubing? Is it what I think it is? (strain1 female x strain2 male) x (strain2 female x strain1 male) ?
Yeah, that's what I was thinking when I said that. Just backcross stabilizing. Not sure if I want to inbreed it that much. The more I learn about this the more work I realize probably needs done. Hell, I'm still exploring nuances of these genes.

I'm not 100% sure what expressions are from where, but I think the shape of the plant itself is more Christmas 79, the buds and leaves are more GG4, and the high/flavor is more Choc Thai.

They've put on a couple more inches.

Another indication I'm chasing the right genes is if these get still twice as big as they are now. I kept one down to three feet by cloning and going to flower quickly.

This is the first time I've grown them on just 12/12 to see if that helps. These also had a minor heat stunting event a week from sprout.

Yes, that hygrometer says 83dF, LL% RH. This strain does well in low humidity, and drinks heavily. The plants should get big enough the leaves will transpire the tent up into the 50% range.

The tent smells like it should. A mildly sweet ganja draft.

A couple of the plants are showing some heavy sativa bud structure. Reminds me of the F1, and makes me think it's the Thai influence.

One really looks and grows like the F3 (their seed mom) with the white, puffy, round pistil clusters. A little slow on starting the stretch, too, which is also similar.

And one is runty and weird, with some white pistil clusters, some green, and a weird overall squatty look.

The stretch has another week or two to finish. Here's to hoping the one with the white pistil clusters shoots up a bunch.

Ultimately, I'm going for a particular high and noting how these genetics express as I select and test.

My next project is to sow the last of the F1s to expand seed stock and start a second line.
