Humboldt Seed Company (HSC) Thread

Two runs of jelly donutz and donutz were good enough to convince me to try other strains so i tried Poddy mouth gazzurple and california octane.Poddy mouth is ok but doesnt look a bit like those calyxes on pictures but those two other strains...Gazzurple 1of 3 not sprouted and one of which remained was a hard genetical hermies balls everywhere under buds i have absolutely great enviroment only thing i could add is CO2 temps nutes RH everyting is best it can be so definitely not mine fault this type of hermying happened to me just once before with symbiotic rated R before max nanners on buds...but okay they write in descriptiion that it is not so stable strain so i said ok mine fault i tried it but then california octane 4 from 5 had same problem HSC is hermie factory stay away from them if you dont want to play russian roulette if your harvest would be great or full of hermies there are too many reports on this i think they make it on such big scale they could not even find hermied plant between them and then lot of seeds are fucked up

Hey there - first time grower here. My mentor and I are about to do a pheno hunt on Chicken and Waffles, and stalking Reddit/forums is inspiring. My mentor said everyone with skin in the game at the cannabis convention was buying several packs of CnW, and everyone who's growing it so far is loving it and saying it grows itself. Interestingly. some growers at about week 4 of flower with CnW are saying that they are getting more notes of citrus/lemon than the herb smell they were hoping for. I'm thinking there could be a really lemony pheno out there that could be bred to make a lemon poppyseed pancake strain....Once I smoke it, I'll sing its praises or lower it from its pedestal. Stay tuned
Keep us updated. I'd like to believe. :) Wouldn't mind grabbing some of the CnW, I think their guzzlerz is getting mixed reviews but I'm still intrigued. I was looking for CnW cut a while ago, but I think I'm all loaded up on genetics at the moment. Hope u get the 10 piece spicy friend.

That's 3 separate reports of herms in the last 2 pages..

Id hear only good things on HSC this the first time reading otherwise. I got the chocolate mint og and amherst sour d. Cant wait to grow them out they should be good for flower rosin which is what I do. I cant have herms either though but will see.

Fems my guy. Took 2 short, loud, potent, frosty JDs and crossed them. One favored hella jelly in terp profile, the other cheesy, funky, dank + earthy, sweet, lil candy in background. Seems to have made stankydank outlier pheno a bit more prevalent than in hsc stock, probably at the cost of a slightly lower yield on average. 3 - 4 Z's off 5gal as opposed to 4 - 5.
There does seem to be some cheese in there yea? I don't believe cheese is in the lineage yet one of my phenos gives a distinct cheese smell, but only when you aren't smelling her directly. It only hits you when you when you aren't expecting it. Takes me back!

Really good strain overall.

HSC sells Feminized , photos and autos….. I’ve ran them for years and have never had any straight up herms. It comes from your environment and how you grow your bud. Not sure where op’s are getting fem only seeds and all herm . Not true
I think it is just a rule of the internet that the larger a breeder thread gets the chances of people crying "herm factory" go up. I mean it's on every thread in this section. Not that people aren't having bad experiences, it's just that it is 100% expected. It doesn't really give you any useful insight into the breeder or strain.

Speaking of herms...I ran the jelly donutz f2 x 91 Chem/Sour Bubble pheno that smells like bubblegum, berries, and mint again. It's still absolutely beautiful, supertasty, fun giggly high shit. And it's still seeding itself on the lowers. Fuuuuuck. Thought I was done hunting.

How's the hunt going? Very much intrigued.

My mentor is sorting through the first round right now, and I'll be taking in some seedlings in the next couple weeks. He confirmed that the terp variety is crazy, grows wonderfully, and is everything it was hoped to be. Growing 3-5 at a time, so it will take awhile to get through.

Hell yeah, break the hunt down. I kinda like the idea of a few people collaborating to get it done. I did about 40 1gals on a hunt before, it was a lot. Now I do 5-10 females at a time. That's a crazy terp profile if u find it. I've already had multiple hsc strains that make me hungry just from smelling them.

HSC or HSO omg confused. The comment on first page clearing it up makes sense. Im reading elsewhere that theyre I think the same but moved to eu and back and maybe a falling out between the two? Idfk.

Considering 100 seed pheno hunt with 6 plants at a time will take years. If becomes too much just have fun with the bell curve and mother the best and take breaks. Or just keep going till I find the right side of the bell curve of exceptional phenos. Then further study making s1’s possibly s2’s. Will take more years tho.

Not much to choose from for extracts only grow. I had a keeper I found at the start if my more serious grow setup that I just kept running. I may of lost it due to poor practices. Learned a boat load on that. For the next keeper. Doing reselection hoping for the best.

Anyway so now that I reazed I may of lost my pheno I just dove into how finding a new pheno works. Just kept getting deeper and deeper. So yea, not much to choose from to find a 1/100 pheno, the rest are 1/1000+. S1’s would be great, F4 or BX or IBL but they just dont have it.

It becomes a crazy task to find something so/so. So want to make aure it has what Im looking for. I was looking at banana candy krush by t h seeds after finding wikiki that was said to be great extracts. Traced it to BCK which was somewhat back crossed to banana og. It helps but refined my search to banana og.

So this what homework looks like huh? lol. Seems the high extract yield I want in the BCK was more so the banana og than the wedding cake. So I learned about the oregon kid and the og kush variant crossed with sagamartha bag seed making banana og. He was into hash like I am so this was interesting.

So appearently humboldt got this banana og? They sourced a clone and selfed a keeper pheno it seems like, then they back crossed to banana og. So its like a narrowed down triangle and the breeder description says great for rosin and high production overall etc which TH Seeds didnt say, just a real hash maker with double the usual hash output.

Im looking for 15-25% average and to find a 28% yielder flower rosin maybe 30%. Or just enjoy the 20% range and slowly go through my seed bank of banana og eventually running them all. There isnt anything else as promising. Oh and if this is oregon kids work, he bred for this already so thats kinda refined into the banana og before being refined even more?

Idk this gonna be the most I spent on beans what yall think. I spent a grand before but on all different packs. I barely grew any of them but so far I just get herms sativa little ball nugs and low hash yield last few strains I ran of various breeders. Of course if to make s1’s and twos to wow so much to do properly, high level of homozygousity, no stress, many trail errors.

Only to narrow it down to a seed-like clone of 100 seeds or possibly 50. That HSC did the work leading up to me taking it further its just not worth it for them to risk. For the broader market to appeal to. Herms, recessive unwanted traits etc. Sooo yeah I love banana og tho I grew the banana candy krush got more a banana og leaning pheno.

Krushing candy banana kush gas. Potent. The yield was a dud with that pheno tho. I got a similar OG kush pheno I mentioned earlier above, love it. Its for sure the reason it yields so well in rosin and possibly bho I think. Flower rosin is itsown extraction proceedure, my 20% didnt yield good test washing it. The opposite can happen too.

Wellll shiit. This just gets deeper and deeper.

Hey medi. HSO is and has always been based in eu. HSC has always been based in Humboldt Cali. HSC did recently do some collabs with Sensi Seeds of EU though. HSO doesn't have straight Banana OG, they have a cross. HSC's description of their Banana OG says "classic emerald triangle clone circa 2010, coveted and preserved by growers in Humboldt’s coastal surf village Trinidad, now recreated in stable seed form. At HSC we occasionally get the opportunity to keep a clone strain’s flame burning through our process of backcrossing and selfing a clone until the seed line consistently displays the traits of the original clone... Banana OG is insanely productive, has that very popular candy gas terpene profile and surprised us with excellent yield as a washer... A great strain for rosin folks or eclectic growers and brands that want to differentiate themselves with a cult classic."
