The 56% setup is a good compromise of efficiency and cost. You can multiply the PPFD numbers by .67 to see how it would do in a 3X3.

is there a thread for the proper spacing and location of the led's

I am picturing a long skinny light with this ?
3.5"X36" heatsink (for spread) $45 +80mm fan +psu $10

Hey I seen you say something about having some gear for sale too ?

Spacing is very dependent on the shape of your space, heatsinks, how hard you run the COBs and lenses etc. I usually make a mock up and/or use ms paint when designing a system to try and get as even spread as possible.

You are correct the 3.5" X 36" will make long thin lamps, only good for spaces that would fit that shape. I use 4.9" X 14" with 50W installed on each, passive cooled for example

You could even use CPU coolers to cover a 3X3. They are very high performance when it comes to cooling, light, cheap and very adjustable, up to 100W ea is doable. The downside is more wiring/rigging etc

I have been reading for hours lol this shit gets addictive
I really like the @ 56.3% option.
do you recommend using all cxb 3590 @ 3500 ?
SupraSPL
SupraSPL
Yes I think straight 3500 is great for flowering, particularly because we are getting the same bin as the higher color temps (CD)

where should I go to get all the parts needed ?

JayY2015
Hello I just contacted jerry and he said the MW driver HLG-185H-C1400B is in shortage and I had to order atleast 4 cxb's
do you have any stuff you are trying to get rid of now I am like 2 weeks from needing another light bad lol
SupraSPL
SupraSPL
How did you make out getting the drivers?
JayY2015
JayY2015
Jerry said he had them in stock I just bought one MW driver HLG-185H-C1400B and 4 cxb 3590's

if i go with an oversized heatsink is it better ?
SupraSPL
SupraSPL
You might squeeze 1 or 2 percent more light by reducing heatsink temps if they are running hot ~110F. But if your temps are reasonably low already 90-100F then there is not much to be gained.

This is my plan

(4) CXB3590 3500K CD 36V @ 1.4A (49W ea) $190

will optic lens fit a 3.5" heat sink ?
SupraSPL
SupraSPL
that is a good question, I do not have them on hand to measure but @REALSTYLES might be able to answer that
