high end = good genetics + properly controlled environment. hot desert is not great for that. search weedmaps for local dispensaries that sell clones, ask for a strain that does well outdoors in your area. maybe get a greenhouse.
Good genetics+ good environment= good results
Good genetics+ ok environment= better than average
Bad genetics good environment= lots of low grade bud
Bad genetics ok environment= 12+ weeks wasted.
At least with good genetics a bad result isn't a full loss.
i think that is all relative. even mediocre genetics in the hands of a skilled grower w lots of love and time and attention and a great environment will be killer herb. and cup winning genetics in the hands of someone who is sloppy, doesn't care, and does provide the proper climate for them to thrive will still be boof.
"and cup winning genetics in the hands of someone who is sloppy, doesn't care, and does provide the proper climate for them to thrive will still be boof."
I think the clone market is evidence against that.
No matter how much you try duff genetics will always be duff with the world's best environment.
Where as a killer cut/seed grown badly will still have better than bad results.
Actual Kush hybrids can handle ling dry periods but would need some work to take desert heat. Like building in a bucket to the ground so it stores water but doesn't bog.
