Grow: The next generation. Early Misty and Master Kush!

Mid-week update: The 3 girls have now been under only the MH (no more natural sunlight) for 4 straight days, following the 18-6 schedule. I measured them again this morning and as the pics show, the 2 MKs are about 10" and the EM is about 9". I watered them on Monday and again this morning, with...

3 out of seven killed in drive by scissor cutting.

Sweet deal. I think we are shooting for the same thing. The Mrs and I smoke about 1/2-3/4 oz a month. My goal is to have roughly 6 months worth on hand, so I can take a break for 3-4 months from growing. It is really time consuming and I have to plan my vacation and business trips around the...

    earliest sexing!!

I sexed mine about 3 weeks after they sprouted. It actually was an accident. I was doing 10 hours natural sunlight, 8 hours 400w MH and 6 hours darkness. All 4 plants (2 master kush and 2 early misty) showed sex. 3 were fems. The lone male showed its balls and it was only about 4"! I have them...

    High pressure sodium question?

HPS - high pressure sodium. Usually more red spectrum, which is preferable to flower in. MH - metal halide - more blue spectrum, which is preferable to vegg in. As VV said, the ballast powers the bulb. You can't screw a HPS or MH bulb into your regular lamp and expect it to work.

    nitrogen def?

Don't lose heart. You can save her. Flush - that will removes any salt buildups that might be causing nute lock out. I'd flush her today (or next earliest possible time), wait 2 days and flush again, unless you see improvement before then. If after flushing twice and reintroducing nutes you see...

The cost of GROWING or BUYING

To address his original point of how much you can save, it depends on how much you smoke and if you will smoke all you grow or sell any (not recommended if you enjoy freedom and not being a man-bitch to Bubba). My last grow, I think I spent about $275-$300. I usually pay $120 for 1/4 oz higrade...

    nitrogen def?

Hemp, I didn't catch it but I am assuming you are in soil? I have no idea how big your root ball from a 5' plant would be but look at your current pot size and go up a size from there. But remember to try flushing first before transplanting. That should be your last resort this late in the game...

The cost of GROWING or BUYING

FF, I don't know where you are finding a new digi 600w switchable ballast so cheap. They run over $200 brand new.

The cost of GROWING or BUYING

You bought a 250W MH bulb and you don't have a ballast? It will be useless. FF is right but if cost is an issue, you can go all the way with CFLs but you will need lots more than one and you won't end up with the higrade bud. You'll get smokable bud but the yield won't be as much and your buds...

    nitrogen def?

Yes...fully...that's why I put it in CAPS. Seems like the plant is on a downward spiral and this is a desperate move. Flush a couple times (allow the plant to recuperate between flushings) and see how it does. Then reintroduce the nutes. Remember hempie, to allow enough time for the plant to...

    nitrogen def?

Could be root lock? The roots aren't taking in the nutes, despite the feedings. Try flushing. If that fails........T R A N S P L A N T....:-O

anyone own a htg supply ultimate 400w mh/hps grow light?

Cheap ways? LOL. You bought the "ultimate" package and now you want to scrimp? I wouldn't advise it. HTG also sells these pulley system hangers that makes it very easy to raise and lower your light. Runs about $20 or so. But anyway...go to HD and buy some hooks and chain cute to length. That...

    Rock-Hard and Fluffy buds

I know. I was expecting to net somewhere around 2oz. I took and posted pics of the weighing before and after curing. (See my journal). And I'm pretty sure they dried thoroughly. Go figure.....

    Metal Halide Ballast?

You need a ballast to operate. You can pick up a used one pretty cheaply ($50-$100) on ebay but remember you get what you pay for and there's always the risk the think will turn out to be a piece of crap. Brand new you can get a complete 400w system from HTG Supply for about $150 - that's the...

    Rock-Hard and Fluffy buds

Baby, not sure about that. I think it depends on the type of buds he is drying. Let me explain. In my last grow, my buds were not nice, dense and thick like we all want. They were somewhere between airy and hard, if that makes sense. Remember I did a combo natural sunlight and CLF grow. When I...

    Rock-Hard and Fluffy buds

It's genetics. Only thing that makes sense. Another advantage of growing from clones - you know what to expect (assuming you grew the mom and are familiar with the plant).

    Rock-Hard and Fluffy buds

Great pics, baby. The inconsistency is enough to drive a guy (or gal) crazy. Btw baby, your inbox is full. Tried replying to you yesterday to say thanks.

    Rock-Hard and Fluffy buds

Yeah, that one got me too. Is the bulb new? Although a weak bulb should have resulted in all if not most of the buds being fluffy. So you had 4 plants (from your first post) and 2 came out fluffy. Was it all the buds on the plant or just the lower branches? Could be that your plant was bushy and...

    Controlling Plant Pests Organically

    Rock-Hard and Fluffy buds

Sounds like it could be genetics, in your case, if the plants were raised under same conditions. Are these all the same strain? From what I know, the primary cause of airy buds is inadequate lighting. If your lights are too weak, you'll get those buds. What lights are you growing under, CFLs or HID?
