Well if it's starting to sprout then you should put it in the light. The only time I ever keep them in darkness is to germinate them.

For me my plants always showed signs of sex before they flowered... And the pistols come out in the light idk about dark, never checked honestly. You sure it's not showing any signs of anything??? You should post some pics, look closely where the plant starts to branch out, that's usually...
