    HPS vs LED

Using that example, a 1000w appliance would be an 8.3amp load on a 110v 15a supply, so you could only have another 800watts of apliances on that supply. in the Uk, it's 240v, typicaly supplied by mains on a 32amp breaker... so you could have appliances totaling a max of 7500w. Which seems a...

A what?1?1 What even is that? Like litmus paper? Edit, granted it's difficult if you are colour blind or something, but the difference between PH6 and PH9 would still be pretty damn obvious..

    Getting impatient ready or not

Sounds like there's some confusion going on, on what your actual PH is, it's worth buying some booklets of 'Litmus paper' just for a sanity check against whatever other method you are using to test PH. They are super cheap and well worth having in your 'tool kit'. One thing to note - damaged...

    The UK Growers Thread!

I think it's mostly due to (before home growing or even commercial growing in the UK got popular) it was mostly cheaper hash, soap bar, etc, commin up from north Africa/Morocco. Likewise, In the USA it was 'lower grade' weed comming up from Mexico and south america.

    The UK Growers Thread!

:DYeah totally, thats why I said its not so simple... to use a beer ananogy it's like saying some random american west coast IPA is better then Magic rock high wire from the UK, it might be, it might not, depends on if the brewer is good and what your personal tastes are. EDIT Or more accuratly...

    The UK Growers Thread!

It's not as simple as saying 'Cali' genetics are better than X/Y/Z it really depends on how well hte plants have been selected, cross bred etc. I had some really nice smoke from my last grow of 'crystal white kush' which is kinda american genetics.. pics of the grow in my sig.

    Discussion: RDWC Nutrient Use

Brave man doing organics in DWC/RDWC ! That's also a very long list of 'stuff"! I take it you have a lot of experience? If not I'd simply run canna aqua vega (for veg) and canna aqua flores for flower. Thats it, unless you need PH down or need too add some peroxide to keep the water free of...

    Looking for light for cuttings

That sounds like all kinds of wrong... theres no way a 1kw LED array is equivelent to 250w HPS, more like 4kw of HPS :o I suspect the "Greenfingers 1000w led grow light" is cheap junk and falsly advertised/marketed... the maths doesn't just 'not add up', it's in a different realm of physics...

    Which light ?

And if the light unit is 60cm square, its too big for a 60x60 tent - you don't want it touching the sides, etc.
  14. futurebanjo

    Which light ?

A 300w LED, for arguments sake, has a light output roughly equivelent to about 500w HPS, depending on the quality of the LEDs etc. Thats why LED is popular, it's a lot more efficient on power consumption. SO first make sure it fits, and second, make sure to get one with a dimmer dial so you can...

    Environmental problems . Humidity issues!?

I totally get that if you are growing from clones, but growing from seed and if you don't have space for propagation and segrigated growing zones, it's not so simple

    Environmental problems . Humidity issues!?

How long did the grow take from seed to crop though? I'd imagine the agressive training to keep the plants a reasonable size for the space would add considerable time?

    Defoliation in flower

I tend to do that too... but only a couple here and there so not to cause too much stress - also saves having to go too mad and do a load at once as I'm lazy and I guess it's also less stressful for the plant. Little and often (but only if required).

    Environmental problems . Humidity issues!?

Steady as she goes, IMO. 60% RH is fine, certainly in veg and if your temps are roughly correct. Or to quote Sun Tzu: Good generals are not committed to death, yet do not expect to live; they act in accord with events, not quick to anger, not subject to embarrassment. When they see...

    Environmental problems . Humidity issues!?

I'm sure someone else will advise if I'm wrong, but for their age/size they look fine to me? Death by fucking about with them too much is the #1 cause of plant death! :mrgreen:YMMV!
