    So you WANT your water to smell like chlorine? If its dosed right you generally wont smell it in those small concentrations. Not sure what kind of answer you are trying to get.

    I'd say your temps and ppm are doing a 1-2 punch on your plants. in DWC you really don't need that high of PPM in the system unless you already have monster plants.

    75 is on the high side, I keep my chiller at 65 and it only needs to cycle a few times a hour to maintain that temp.

    A chiller is there as peace of mind insurance. Keep in mind if your temps get too high you lose DO potential in the water.
