Calling all COB experts. Advice needed

36*.59=21.24w currently You're at around 500ppfd at the moment running them at that If you went to 1.05A you'd have 37.8w each You'd be at around 880ppfd at that wattage. 640 sqin =0.41 sqm = 4.44 sqft I may be way off with those calculations, it's past my bedtime :D

    Water cooled COBs

You misunderstood. I was running chinese ebay COBs previously as a test run to make sure my water cooling setup would work over the medium/long term (see the first post in this thread). This was the upgrade. I had intended to upgrade with CXB3950s but made it citis instead.

    the HLG-600H thread

I'm running constant current HLG-600H-36A models. HLG-600H-36A tops out at 630W for me but datasheet says it should be 601.2W

    Water cooled COBs

So... here's version 3. As some of you know I made a big purchase of 250x Citizen CLU046-1212 COBs. It was always my intention to run the chinese COBs for a couple of months to make sure the water cooling worked before investing in some more expensive/efficient COBs. I had intended on getting...

    6 x CXB3590 - how high should I turn them up?

50w at 2 inches will burn the tops but at 6 inches will be fine. I haven't got any first hand experience with lower wattages and plants being close to lights but I'd have thought 20w might be ok at 2 inches.

chilLED: water cooled, ducted, or active led fixture

That's not the question to ask. The questions to ask are: How much electricity is your chiller using (water cooled setup)? How much electricity is your AC using (air cooled setup)? Which one gives you 5% extra light?

chilLED: water cooled, ducted, or active led fixture

Home brewers do exactly that with water from the tap. They basically run DTW watercooling. Starting at the tap your water is pumped through a loop to cool the liquid fermenting and then warm water goes down the drain. Very wasteful but they do it! Typically they only need to cool for a...

Keep getting bud rot, need help!

How long does it take to dry the buds? Can't be more than 5 days with that humidity and temp. You not drying too fast? I can't see how you can be drying in those conditions and your buds start to rot! Also... holy shit... Google 85F... click image search and... see for yourself :D...

COB Manufacturers other than CREE or BRIDGELUX

Not really a no-no in all cases. The issue is... What happens if one COB dies? What happens if more than one dies? The extra current gets redistributed amongst all the remaining COBs. Can the others handle it? Is there enough headroom? In my case the CLU046 COBs have a max wattage rating of...

COB Manufacturers other than CREE or BRIDGELUX

I'm gonna be running 30 chips per 600w driver... so 180 chips initially. Hope to have that all built within 2-3 weeks. Another 32 are going to be side lighting which I'll probably take a few months to get finished as I just have rough designs in my head. The 30x 5000k are going to go in my veg...

I have done peltier cooling while I was experimenting. Definitely not worth it. They are nowhere near as efficient as a compressor/evap type AC or water chiller. You create MASSIVE amounts of heat and unless your peltier is actively cooled it gets overwhelmed quickly and stops cooling. The...

    Water cooled COBs

Well akshully... a Core i7-4790K at 4GHz has a TDP of only 88W. At first I was temped to go with computer water cooling radiators but soon figured out they wouldn't have anywhere near the required cooling power as computer processors are only putting out 1-200w of of heat max and still getting...

    Water cooled COBs

Well it's been running for over 2 months and not had any issues... If I had boiling water something would be seriously wrong somewhere! I have a FLIR camera and so can tell you exact temps. My hottest water lines are under 40C in a 25C room when cooling 2100w. "Coolant" actually is worse at...
