Experienced Cab Growers, Need Some Light Advice.

Sounds like you have a good base plan, check the grow in my sig if you want to see how small an area you can fit a 250w HPS into... Though instead of PC fans I'd run a 4" exhaust and have a passive intake, just drill some 2" holes in the bottom or low down on the side, I had to drill about 30...

yeah that looks like a very bleached bud. If the heat is okay, the light intensity sure isn't XD Which is why I use an edited regular reflector, you'll get better spread, you can keep the bulb further away as well, something to consider for your next grow perhaps.

best type of light to use with 3' height in cab?

yes the dish is a brilliant idea.... no matter how long you veg, flower takes the same amount of time (maybe a bit less 'cause the plant is more mature and can kick start flowering faster). More veg = Bigger yields Generally speaking, providing you don't screw up somewhere in between. If you...

250w HPS Club And Help Guide

Haven't been on for a while, just starting up my new grow box, got the 2 Berry Bombs in the DWC buckets, just need to find some money for the flowering LED, got a 90w for veg so that's sorted. If only my nutes were more acidic! My PH is 7.6 with them added to my 7.2 water... need some PH down...

best type of light to use with 3' height in cab?

That's why you dish the screen to match the available area of the light :) if you dish it thoroughly enough every part of the screen is the same distance away from the bulb with the rest of the light being reflected back to the effective 'sweet spot' XD

Pleh, been off here for a good few days, got some catching up to do... If your getting a bit close to the light keep an eye on them for burning and heat stress (leaves pointing up) it looks like it's heat stressed, you can just tell :) Might be worth seeing if you can get a small clip on fan...

best type of light to use with 3' height in cab?

Your right, at first I did, but eventually I got the amount of passive intake holes right and it was perfect, maybe a few degrees too hot but not enough to mess em up. And I set my light schedule to be 12 hours ON during the evening so it was 5pm-5am and off during the hottest hours of the day...

Thanks for the link, I haven't considered them.. Haven't really looked at em but I'm looking for a UK supplier because every time I order stuff from the US I get a massive customs tax bill, it's ridiculous.

best type of light to use with 3' height in cab?

if anything you want one with less bandwidths 10 is kinda unnecessary, if you can get a good 5 or 7 band one it might knock your price down a fair bit and still perform just as well, there's just too much debate as to whether IR and UV light actually makes any difference to final product...

fair enough, it seems like a lot of effort but if it's worth it! And ripped off U scrog pfff fuckin' liberty lol, I just ripped it off the last guy XD. How far into flower are you now? and how long do you have left?

Newbie needs desperate help, no buds!! (Update)

Those are buds, like scroggy said, the only buds you will see they'll stay that small most likely, 13w is absolutely nowhere near enough, sorry pal. I think he thought you were the OP and frankly it is a crappy harvest... not the growers fault just the light. So chill :) we need more peace on...

Just been doing some research and a few emails later, into the GrowNorthern 'modular' series, basically it works out that if you want to upgrade, the power etc is supported up to 5w diodes and the rest is just a software driver issue, so what it seems is that each 'module' (array?) is self...

best type of light to use with 3' height in cab?

The 'recommended' distance is there because LED's can potentially bleach the shit out of your plants, especially the 3w and 5w diodes if they are too close but a 180 (I'm assuming advertised as 240w) should be fine up to the point of touching the plant, don't hold me to that but my 90w UFO is...

lol gotta love BHO, I need to make me some of that! It's weird whenever I used to share my weed, I got comments like it ain't bad... for 'home grown'. As if doing it at home is any different from whoever else is doing it, in their home most likely lol, always gets me!

    Blackstar 240w Flowering models !!!

Fair enough, the only ones I've read about are the IR's and UV's tend to blow pretty much within a week but the Reds and Blues seem fine.

    Blackstar 240w Flowering models !!!

LED's are rated at 50,000 hours.... that's a hell of a lot more than 2 cycles :) But yeah for second hand (if you want to be competitive and actually sell em) you want an absolute maximum of 1/2 + a few $ what you paid for them... if you paid $390 for em you'll have to put em up for $200 or less.

Fair enough thanks for the response, good points! I'm more thinking of just an LED light not worried about upgrading it, that just sounded like a good addition just in case of like for like replacements if a fault happens. Where would you get it cheaper or are you talking about a different...

Blackstar 270w Led - beginners Choice?

nah not yet, just waiting for the funds to come in :) Think I'm going to have to have the lower wattage version, money is a wee bit tight lol :) At least the grows pay for themselves.

250w cab, 36" tall stealth grow.

only with really high wattage LED's bleaching can be really bad, the lower wattage ones can be touching the plant with no issues. The 120* is the angle each LED is positioned at so the middle LED's would be at say 60* the next set are 90* and the outer LED's are 120* just for maximum coverage...
