I plant the seeds directly in the coco in solo cups.......no paper towels or soaking. I use a 50/50 coco/perlite mix and I start feeding to run off daily starting around day 3 or 4 from sprout. I transplant to a 2 gallon pot after 2 weeks........and that's where they stay.

    Pots

Coco basics. Start in solo cups. Feed daily to substantial run off. Never plain water. Never, ever let the coco dry. Daily feeding replenishes the nutes, pulls in fresh oxygen to the roots, and prevents salt build up.

Nope. Although I'm not a fan of fabric pots. Just my opinion.

    Pots

You only need a 2 gallon pot for the coco. I'm sure you already know but I just want to remind you to not treat the coco like soil or it will fail.

Suggestions on a decent PH tester?

If I grew that way I'd have a pH meter as well........the best one made. But I grow in coco........and the OP never indicated how he grows.

Suggestions on a decent PH tester?

It's not like the pH has to be tested daily. I test it twice a grow when I change my nute strength.

Suggestions on a decent PH tester?

I only have to check my nute solution a few times during the entire grow.......only when I up the strength. I haven't checked the pH of my current grow in a couple months.

Suggestions on a decent PH tester?

The drops are cheap, never wrong, and never needs calibration.

    Pots

I always start in solo cups and transplant to 2 gallon pots after 2 weeks. I grow in coco, so if you're growing in soil, you would probably need a larger pot.

    Thoughts on this bud

Welcome to RIU. I don't go by the trichomes. When the pistils have all turned orange and have receded, it's done. Responding for a friend. ; )
